Tom Froemming Twins Daily Contributor Posted December 21, 2019 Posted December 21, 2019 There was a lot of talk surrounding Josh Donaldson and how much his market has picked up of late. It doesn't sound like he'll be available for much longer, and while Ken Rosenthal reported the Twins are making a serious run at the slugger, some of the verbiage he used on MLB Network in particular suggest he's skeptical. Here's a quick run through of some of the recent discussion and a few of my reactions:

ChrisKnutson Verified Member Posted December 21, 2019 Posted December 21, 2019 After being teased like this, if we fail to land Donaldson, I’d really hate to pivot to the likes of Cron, Shaw, or Frazier... Instead, I would hope the FO would start making serious calls on corner infield bats like Santana and Arenado.
strumdatjaguar Verified Member Posted December 21, 2019 Posted December 21, 2019 Donaldson: He's 34 years old and had injury problems that limited him to playing only 52 games in 2018. Last year, he had a great season. But Really - If you give him 4 years, do you think he'll be better than Travis Blankenhorn or other prospects in the third year of his contract. 4 years is too long for an aging star.

But in a couple years we will also no longer have a retired Cruz so an aging Donaldson in years 3 and 4 does not scare me.

akmanak Verified Member Posted December 21, 2019 Posted December 21, 2019 Donaldson is pretty risky given his history. I am for either signing a decent starter or loaded this team with long ball hitters. Maybe we just toss in the towel when it comes to pitchers and simply try to outscore everyone by breaking our homerun record.
