Twins clutch hitting has been pretty awful this home-stand. In the 6 games (including tonight) the Twins are hitting 9-47 (.191) with RISP.

It has been extraordinarily ugly, that’s for sure.

He's on pace for 36 home runs. That's not average. His OPS is about .800, which is not great, but it's certainly above average.

Gibson is the same as he always has been , rare flashes of brilliance that keeps us all hoping, he’ll never be anything more, would have shown up by now

 

He's never gonna live up to the front end starter hopes that the Twins had for him when they took him in the first, but if he can post another 2.8 WAR season again this year... at the very least, he won't be one of the guys who's holding the team back from contending. That's several steps up from when he was bordering on being left for dead after the arm problems.

Major tip of the cap to Rogers for going out there tonight after going 2 innings yesterday. He looked gassed out there. Should have had a 1-2-3 inning, but the Angels just keep catching breaks...

Back to back losses seem to do that. The worst is bad game during a losing streak.

 

I think you could capture some interesting qualitative information on how people react to noise over signal in the short term just by watching these game threads. Any sociologists/Talebian statheads/behavioral economists/whatever looking for a mediocre thesis topic?

The thing is that no one ever profiled him as an ace except beleaguered Twins fans. He was a first round steal at the back of the round because he broke his arm.

And that's why I said "front end starter" instead of "ace", the same phrase that, if memory serves, Deron Johnson used when we drafted Gibson. It didn't play well with some fans.
