Note that he got the dreaded vote of confidence a few weeks ago.

Why couldn't they have waited until 1 minute after the last game of the season?
nokomismod Verified Member Posted September 28, 2012 Posted September 28, 2012 Yes, very odd. Maybe he wanted to go on a hunting/fishing trip this weekend and pushed the envelope.
Brock Beauchamp Site Manager Posted September 28, 2012 Posted September 28, 2012 Stability>Instability. I'd rather watch a franchise that holds on to its front office and management for a little too long than one that fires guys seemingly at random. Cleveland is not a bad team because Manny Acta was the manager. Cleveland is a bad team because they have bad players.
LewFordLives Verified Member Posted September 28, 2012 Posted September 28, 2012 I agree the timing is odd. Maybe there were other opportunities he wanted to pursue and asked management to speed up their decision.
DAM DC Twins Fans Provisional Member Posted September 28, 2012 Posted September 28, 2012 A couple of weeks after the dreaded vote of confidence is about par for mgr. firings...but why not wait till end of season?? I like Manny, I think he did a good job here with the Nats (in the days before Harper, Strasberg and both Zimmermans). I hope he lands on his feet next spring.

Cleveland is not a bad team because Manny Acta was the manager. Cleveland is a bad team because they have bad players. Cleveland has been stable. Constantsuckage stable for a while. Same way the Twins have been the past couple seasons. I guess they do not like that stability so they try to find someone who can change that. And they were in the contention path for a while both of the 2 last seasons.
