  1. Great article, very interesting to read. Im with you on thinking the twins have atleast 1 or 2 major moves on the way. I would have been all for signing Drew last year as I said multiple times last offseason but I firmly believe that his asking Price is a little to much. So I dont see that happening. I expect by friday night that the Twins will have signed either Garza or Arroyo. Im hoping we did not go an extra couple million on Pelfrey...There are other people who deserve his spot in the starting rotation I dont care if he is coming back from injury or not.
  2. That's a little out in left field thinking...Just a little...
  3. Yea for some reason Keith Law believes height has everything to do with long term success of Pitchers.
  4. MLBTR- "Under the latest proposal, while the maximum posting fee is $20MM, players appear to be free to sign with any team that ties for the highest bid, the Los Angeles Times' Bill Shaikin tweets. If that's the case, Yahoo!'s Jeff Passan points out, it will make Tanaka a de facto free agent, and he will likely receive a large contract."
  5. Ooffda! Man this contract is bad.
  6. Suprised he recieved 2 years. Im happy for Justin. He will always be one of my favorite players. Here's to hoping he can get his career back on track!
  7. I guess we are still in on Arroyo according to MLBTR. I actually would not mind if we signed him as well(2 years on 3). I think he would provide good leadership and a solid 200 IP. It definitely would not hurt to continue to let the young guys get experience in the minors. Also, lets sign AJ already JEEZ!
  8. I was wrong, I admit it. I hated this deal when it happened. Correia was consistenly solid last year and you could count on him for 6 IP and 3 ER most games last year. Nice write up BTW.
  9. Most of us do....Most of us do.
  10. Also lets not forget how bad AJ Burnett was when he played for the Yankees. Some people just cant handle playing in New York for whatever reason, whether it be the homer friendly park or all the pressure of playing in the BIG Apple. Lets hope Hughes can turn his career around like Burnett have been able to.
  11. This is awesome. We still dont have a number one pitcher but this definitely makes our rotation a little more respectable. Just what I wanted 3 years for 24 million is a pretty nice contract especially if he flames out. Way better than having Arroyo for 3 years 30 million. I honestly dont think Arroyo gets even close to the contract he wants anymore and maybe, just maybe the Twins could get him at a better rate.
  12. I would love this. Have to sign him for 3 years though, 2 is too few.
  13. Im shocked at how low we got him and TR actually made a move.
  14. Hmmm...I like your thinking, but I dont think the Twins are willing to give up Perkins. One of the best Closers in the league with a very team friendly contract. Then again whats the point of having a great closer if your starting pitchers aren't good enough to set him up for a save opportunity?
  15. No in another post i just agreed that Ryan probably wont even sign Garza?.... If they only sign Garza and keep Pelfrey this offseason is definitely a failure.
  16. Sad but probably true....
  17. Shane you make way to much sense. I wish there was a like button. Hendriks still has the potential to be something decent. Honestly though I think he is so deep in Gardys doghouse that he might not be able to pitch his way out...even with Pelfrey like stats.
  18. Totally agree. What's Garza's WAR? Like 3? That isnt going to cut it. Sure I would love Garza but we need more than one pitcher. If this offseason all they do is keep Pelfrey and sign Garza...it is a failure.
  19. I just puked in my mouth reading this. Sure Pelfrey as a #5 starter....but he is not going to be considered our #5 starter...he will be considered our #2....gross. C'MON MAN!
  20. I sure hope we arent one of the unknown teams. Navarro has never been anything.
  21. Not a big fan of this move if it happens. Salty has always underperformed and thats why he has bounced around in his career. Spend the money on pitching. Although im not sold on Pinto lets see what he's got, were so bad anyway would signing Salty make a difference?NO
  22. The Yankees also had a lot of contracts come off the books. I dont think it has anything to do with AROD.
  23. If you read the Twins Daily handbook(which is a great read) Terry Ryan practically inferred he was content on not spending any money at all. You could tell by his answers. Nothing will happen this offseason no Arroyo, Nolasco or even Jeff Franocouer......I dont know if its Ownership or Terry Ryan. Eventually people are just going to tune the Twins out once the allure of a new ballpark goes away.
