Agreed, they would make room for Machado. I just don’t think they would have signed two IFers and a DH if they were going to sign another one.

All of this is silly. Aside from the obvious fact that they haven’t signed anyone to commit any 2020 dollars, if the Twins are the mystery team and sign Machado, it would be utterly, completely, fall-out-of-your-chair, I’d-eat-my-hat, shocking.

I don't think it's silly to hope for something you know is impossible. I think dreams are a fine reality!

 

That said, yeah, I've said that before, that when they signed Schoop, whatever. But, if they do think they can sign Machado, and they actually do, I'll be as shocked as you. But when you get a player like that, there is always room.

Polanco doesn’t have the arm for SS, why move him further from first?

SS requires a stronger arm than 3B.

Throws from deep in the hole are actually further from first than throws from third base are. Plus the SS has to make more throws while moving away from 1B than the third baseman does.
