USAFChief Twins Daily Contributor Posted May 31, 2018 Posted May 31, 2018 I doubt very much that Slegers will be called upon to be the Designated Hitter next Tuesday. Are you sure? This is an organization that started Jason Tyner at DH in a playoff game.
Richie the Rally Goat Community Moderator Posted June 4, 2018 Posted June 4, 2018 I posted a version of this question in the Game Thread, but it was in the middle of the frivolity of the comeback and nobody answered. Anybody know the answer? There is general agreement that with being originally scheduled in Rochester, Slegers was the likely call-up for the DH next Tuesday. Until last night's marathon, however. Instead, Slegers got called up and pitched well tonight. So here's my question: If Mauer was activated and Slegers sent down in the next couple days, Slegers would normally have to be down 10 days. But didn't I read somewhere that a player in his situation CAN be used as the 26th man, sent back down, and have his 10-day requirement picked up from that spot? If so, this seems like a brilliant move.Seems like a kosher move, but unlikely. I bet it’s Littell https://www.mlb.com/twins/news/zack-littell-likely-to-debut-tuesday/c-279611770
