Guest Guests Posted February 25, 2018 Posted February 25, 2018 Nice, efficient first inning for Gibson. Rays put on the shift for Buxton. I've kind of wondered if/when that might start happening. Doesn't seem like he hits ground balls to the right side too often, which makes some sense given that he has a better chance to beat out ground balls to the left side. I just hadn't noticed teams doing that a lot with him at the plate.

Sometimes Good Gibby shows up and he has command. Other times Bad Gibby is on the mound and he can't put the ball where he wants it. For too long it's been 50-50 or worse which one we get. The key is whether he can find the cliched "consistency" that everyone hopes for.

If I remember correctly, there were a couple of games last year Gibson got hit pretty good in the first and after that did a good job of shutting things down.

Squirrel Community Moderator Posted February 25, 2018 Author Posted February 25, 2018 Well, okay, I guess that’s one way for a bad pitch to end the inning.
