Mr. Brooks Verified Member Posted October 29, 2017 Posted October 29, 2017 Yeah, hopefully they get corrected over the bye.An effort like that isn't going to cut it against anyone else on their schedule.
Hosken Bombo Disco Community Moderator Posted October 29, 2017 Posted October 29, 2017 Unrelated football question: If the NFL, NCAA or whoever wants to protect quarterbacks and generate offense, why not get rid of some of the silly penalties, like illegal grounding, illegal offensive formations, etc? Why should the quarterback get to throw an incomplete pass when he wants? Think about it. Less penalties, more advantage to the offense.
drjim Provisional Member Posted November 12, 2017 Posted November 12, 2017 They might get a bye. Pretty impressive season so far.
Mr. Brooks Verified Member Posted November 12, 2017 Posted November 12, 2017 Offense was clicking. Keenum showed me something by saying, "if you want my job you'll have to pry it from my hands". I like that attitude in a player. Very concerned about the defense getting torched for 30 points though. I know they were missing Everson, but still, he's just one guy. As good as the offense was today, I still think you're playing with fire if you're asking them to put up 31+ to win.

Seems like it'll be fine.

Seems like it'll be fine. You may be right, but I keep hearing this is an elite defense. No doubt they are good, but the type of generationally elite defenses that can carry a team to the SB lock it down from the opening snap to the last. Everyone is entitled to a bad day, I get that, so hopefully this was just their 'bad day ', and not a glimpse of something exposeable.
Mr. Brooks Verified Member Posted November 19, 2017 Posted November 19, 2017 Wow, what an awful challenge. What are they thinking here? Don't they have a guy looking at replay before they challenge?
Mr. Brooks Verified Member Posted November 19, 2017 Posted November 19, 2017 Nobody within 20 yards of Thielen. All Keenum has to do is hit him in stride and it's a TD. Instead we get zero points. Awful throw.
Mr. Brooks Verified Member Posted November 19, 2017 Posted November 19, 2017 Thielen is a legit star WR. What a story, and what a find for the Vikings.
ashbury Verified Member Posted November 19, 2017 Posted November 19, 2017 Thielen is a legit star WR. What a story, and what a find for the Vikings. He still has room for growth in the "don't get called for silly clipping" department.
nicksaviking Community Moderator Posted November 19, 2017 Posted November 19, 2017 He still has room for growth in the "don't get called for silly clipping" department. But he's got the diva WR "argue with the officials on every play" part nailed! I love him and I'm stoked the Vikings found gold but he doesn't do the whole "aw shucks" Minnesota bit. Actually, I guess that's fine by me, I've grown tired of that mentality.
Mr. Brooks Verified Member Posted December 3, 2017 Posted December 3, 2017 Awful clock management there at the end of the half.
drjim Provisional Member Posted December 3, 2017 Posted December 3, 2017 Awful clock management there at the end of the half.Don't agree. The number one goal is to avoid quick three and out and give Falcons short field to score. It's still Case Keenum.
Mr. Brooks Verified Member Posted December 3, 2017 Posted December 3, 2017 Don't agree. The number one goal is to avoid quick three and out and give Falcons short field to score. It's still Case Keenum.I'm referring to later in the drive. They didn't use the sideline once. You don't win by playing scared.
drjim Provisional Member Posted December 3, 2017 Posted December 3, 2017 I'm referring to later in the drive. They didn't use the sideline once. You don't win by playing scared. That's fair. I don't think it was fear though, they did push up the field.
Mr. Brooks Verified Member Posted December 3, 2017 Posted December 3, 2017 Playing scared again. 1st and 25: -1 yard swing pass.2nd and 26: -2 yard swing pass. Giving up on a drive on 1st down, in a 5 point game. Not a fan. I get it's a tough spot, but at least try to get 7 or 8 yards, and get yourself a 3rd and 9 or 10.
Mr. Brooks Verified Member Posted December 3, 2017 Posted December 3, 2017 Huge conversion there. Don't let up, score 6 here.
drjim Provisional Member Posted December 3, 2017 Posted December 3, 2017 I'm admittedly a bandwagon football fan, but that is a really solid win. Vikes are tough and built well, no outcome would surprise me this season.
Hosken Bombo Disco Community Moderator Posted December 3, 2017 Posted December 3, 2017 I'm also very bandwagon, and despite only 14 points today it's hard to be anything but impressed with how the offense performed.
Mr. Brooks Verified Member Posted December 3, 2017 Posted December 3, 2017 On the road, against the reigning conference champions, yeah, pretty much any W is impressive. This team looks like it's for real.
Mr. Brooks Verified Member Posted December 10, 2017 Posted December 10, 2017 Surprisingly undisciplined defense here in the early going. Drive extended twice by careless and unnecessary facemasks.
Mr. Brooks Verified Member Posted December 10, 2017 Posted December 10, 2017 Anthony Barr is having a rough day. He's a good player, obviously, but he also has spells where he just disappears.
Mr. Brooks Verified Member Posted December 10, 2017 Posted December 10, 2017 Wow, wth is going on with these Vikings? They look shellshocked. Perfect route, perfect pass, wide open Rudolph just drops it.
Mr. Brooks Verified Member Posted December 10, 2017 Posted December 10, 2017 On a positive note, Trae Waynes is really playing well right now.
Mr. Brooks Verified Member Posted December 10, 2017 Posted December 10, 2017 And now Thielen drops a TD.
snepp Verified Member Posted December 10, 2017 Author Posted December 10, 2017 Come on, a TD here eliminates a lot of rough first half play.
ashbury Verified Member Posted December 10, 2017 Posted December 10, 2017 Keenum throws 3 consecutive TD passes and comes away with zero points due to one stellar defensive play and two near misses by his receivers.
snepp Verified Member Posted December 10, 2017 Author Posted December 10, 2017 Down 1 at half, on the road, to a pretty good team, not a terrible position to be in.
Mr. Brooks Verified Member Posted December 10, 2017 Posted December 10, 2017 Down 1 at half, on the road, to a pretty good team, not a terrible position to be in.No, not all, considering how they've played. Hopefully they come out more focused in the second half.
snepp Verified Member Posted December 10, 2017 Author Posted December 10, 2017 That wasn't an impressive start to the half though.
