... where he was the youngest hitter not named Byron.

An .813 OPS is better than decent, in that context. And his body of work the seasons after that look like steady progression by a young player.

Yeah, you're wrong Chief!

Sub "Buxton" for "Polanco" and let me know whether you would DFA Buxton.  Buxton was hitting .147/.256 /.176 a month into the season.  Polanco is in a month long slump also.  Stuff happens.  Kepler is hitting .174/.220/.217 the last 2 weeks.  Shall he go away also?

He will get out of it, and now that it seems that the Twins will trade Dozier, there is plenty of room for all infielders.

10th in slugging in the league.

16th in OBP

from a SS

I don't understand what people want from a 21 year old in AA, to think he has a shot to be good.

.293/.364/.446

21 year old Nick Gordon's line in AA

.283/.351/.489

21 year old Buxton's line in AA.

even more fun:

.251/.336/ .527

22 year old Joe Benson's line in AA

.271/.360/.454

22 year old Rene Tosoni's line in AA

21 and 22 year old numbers in AA do not really matter than much.  What someone does in the majors matters.   He could be another Benson or Tosoni, or will take a while to get adjusted maybe, like Buxton.  Who knows?

great, I'll go with the scouts who keep rating him in the top 30-50 minor league players right now. No problem.

edit:

you'll note I said "shot at being good", nothing more definitive than that. Not really sure what you are arguing against. He has no shot?

I wouldn't DFA either of them, but it should be noted that Buxton is a game changer on defense.

Offense is only one half of the game.
