My favorite golf major to watch every year. Visiting Augusta National Golf Club is high on my bucket list as well...

Who you got winning this weekend?

Posted

I'm streaming it on my phone right now. The technology is amazing. Shout out to all the geeks.

I wish to be there some day. My inlaws lived there for a few years, it never occurred to them I'd want to go (wut?)....

I'm streaming as well, since they're not broadcasting on TV yet. The course looks amazing as usual.

They've got a big challenge today playing in 35-40 mph wind gusts.

Jordan Spieth with his best Mike Sixel impersonation.....in the water (short), way too hard over, terrible chip out of frustration. Looking like a legit 8 in sight.....maybe a nine. What an AWFUL putt. wow.

Dustin Johnson falls down the stairs of his rental house and out of the Masters. Sounds like he's back drinking again... Sad, really.

9 quadruple bogey wow... Augusta is in his head. Can't play anymore after his epic collapse last year.

Let's hope not. But addiction is hard, bummer.

Based on the fact he's won his last three events, it doesn't sound like he is.

This is pretty unfair, the dude slipped and ****ed up his back.

I agree it's probably not cool to speculate about stuff like that, (but here I go anyway) but how does an athlete in their prime fall down the stairs the night before a potential multi million dollar payday?

With a little practice, stairs are fairly easy to manage if you are careful.

It was 3:00 in the afternoon, why assume it was the night before?

He didn't fall down the stairs, he slipped and landed hard on his back. Perhaps the floors were hardwood, maybe marble, who knows, the guy got hurt.

An athlete in their prime? He's a golfer, not an NFL linebacker.

do you watch golf? these guys are in great shape.

Yes I do watch golf, they are in shape, they just aren't built like athletes who play contact sports and are probably a little less resilient. That's all.

Look, I hate to assume he's back on the bottle, but let's be real... the dude slipped down the stairs. If you're sober, you're not falling down the stairs directly on your back when you're a measily 72 hours away from a multi million dollar payment.

He was walking in socks, in a house he'd never been in, and slipped. He won't be the last person to slip on wooden steps while wearing socks...

Yeah I suppose I shouldn't speculate on it.

understatement of the day.....

"nothing wrong with 290 in the air"....

Pulling for an epic Garcia/Mickelson battle (I'm old, I guess)...

Love those 2... Phil because I've got to cheer for all lefty golfers. And Sergio because I got to meet him and take a pic while he was in Austin!

If you could simply choose to not slip, why would anyone ever slip? What relevance does it being 72 hours away from The Masters have? Christ, if he was really back on the bottle, he probably would have been crawling for that matter.

I think the relevance is that I would think you would be extra careful in the days leading up to the Masters. Maybe not, though.

I know I would, but maybe these guys just take it for granted.

Everyone keeps saying that obviously this can happen easily with socks on hardwood, but if it's that obvious, why would you wear socks on hardwood the day before a potential 8 figure payday?

Either way, it's silly to speculate. He didn't hurt anyone but himself, so who cares.

I just found it to be an odd story.

Spieth can still win this...

I counted him out, and he clawed back into it today.

Rooting for Sergio Garcia tomorrow... He's been around so long I'd love to see him win it.

Good for Sergio.

I know he comes off as a jerk sometimes, and he's not my personal favorite, but you could tell this win meant the world to him.

That deep personal joy of winning is one of the things that makes sports so enjoyable to watch.

You change how you walk on stairs before something important? Really? That's an amazing amount of self-discipline.

Athletes have gotten injured hundreds of times in weird or ridiculous ways. That's life.

Yes, when something is important you are more careful.

When my kids were newborns, I was more cautious and aware when carrying them.

I drove more cautiously when they were in the car. It's pretty common, I would imagine.

It didn't take very much self discipline at all, just a small amount of awareness.

Most athletes are in team sports with guaranteed money.

I'd imagine you see less of these weird injuries in sports where the money isn't guaranteed if you get hurt.
