Today is National Walking Day. I hope that the Twins' pitchers don't over-celebrate!

(The Royals obviously celebrated early on Monday!)

Ugh, Buxton with a strikeout.  This looks real familiar.  Why bat him 3rd again?  The guy flourished last year in the 9th spot, move 'em back.  Sorry to be a downer.

Another K for Buxton... Time for him to be batting 8th or 9th, not 3rd. :banghead:

It's still early. He had a good spring...let it play out a bit,

I was suprised to see Perez playing. I was for sure his knee was wrecked from the WBC. I was watching that game thinking...and that's why teams don't like their starts participating in this.

I'm a fan that our IT team set up a VPN at work, so I'm able to watch MLB.tv today!

I am the IT team where I work. :D

Santiago's peripheral numbers are supposed to be bad, yet he manages to get the job done.

Baseball is a weird game.

Santiago apparently is on a pitch count of 90 today, which means at this pace he'll get yanked in the 5th.  So that's good.

Also, Twins starters now have an ERA of 1.  FWN!

True.

EVERY year he out-performs his peripherals.

And does it living high in the zone. Odd guy.

I don't think the umpires will let Molitor do that.

Santiago can save a lot of pitches if Molitor just puts up four fingers as soon as there's nobody on first.

On the four finger topic, who will be the first pitcher to come into a game, issue an intentional walk and then leave the game, not having thrown a pitch?

The guy he was traded for is just the opposite, always better peripherals than results.

Danny just stated that Molitor is batting Smokey Joe Mauer 4th because with his high OBP, if the Twins go 1-2-3 in the first, he's your leadoff hitter.  Of course, if he just hit leadoff, he would leadoff.

I like Cheslor Cuthbert just because he's one of very few MLB players from Nicaragua.

I like Cheslor Cuthbert because his name is epic.

so, mlb.com is in English, but when I go to gameday, it reverts to spanish again....while it might be occasionally entertaining, not sure I need it every game.

Are they showing you ads for women's clothing, too?

This is why I think analytics is important, but with reservations. If one is too caught up in the numbers, one loses sight of the fact that baseball is played by people, not numbers.
