Reusse: The Twins Way (Then and Now)

Patrick Reusse wrote about Tom Kelly, Rick Stelmazsek and The Twins Way.

He described what it meant back in the late '70s when both were coming off of their playing careers and entering their coaching years. He described working in the Florida Instructional League back then and all the work that was done. He wrote about the fields back then, the hours of work and the philosophy. He wrote about how pitching affects it all. And he talked about what The Twins Way has become in the last decade.

Kelly and Stelmaszek would arrive by 7 a.m. and water and work the field to try to get it into some form of playing condition. They then would run drills for three hours, hitting fungoes, throwing hundreds of pitches in batting practice, followed by a game in the full heat of the afternoon.

It's a good history, and a good reminder for some of what the team needs to move the bar forward.

Nice article.  Hope Stelly beats cancer, that really sucks.  It would be nice if Lavine and Falvey can win a few World Series as well.

I would be in favor of both of those things happening!
