stringer bell Verified Member Posted July 28, 2012 Posted July 28, 2012 I just heard the lineup announced on KSTP and they had Carroll at second, hitting 9th. Whatever.
snepp Verified Member Posted July 28, 2012 Posted July 28, 2012 I see Masterson still has his wild splits going this year, .580ish OPS against righties, .750ish against lefties.
Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted July 28, 2012 Posted July 28, 2012 That play right there is my biggest problem with Velencia. Runner on third... Charge the ball. He doesn't move his feet. Same Danny... He didn't learn down in AAA. That's one run that he could have at least challenged.
NorthwestTwinsFan Provisional Member Posted July 28, 2012 Posted July 28, 2012 My first impression of the newly-promoted Valencia? He still sucks.
Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted July 28, 2012 Posted July 28, 2012 That at bat was bad... Chasing the same outside slider he did before but the at bat is one thing. Not charging that groundball cost us a run. Masterson is dealing... That run could be Important. If he wants to stay... You'd figure he'd go get the ball. Im gonna try and give him a break and say it was nerves... However... He's been playing back on balls and reaching for a couple of years now. Im disappointed.

Although I think it's crazy to judge a player after his first 3 innings back with the team, I just have a hard time believing he's any better now than when the Twins sent him down.
Guest USAFChief Guests Posted July 29, 2012 Posted July 29, 2012 Had to watch last night's game on tape delay...couple things: 1. Diamond was really, really good. Really hit his spots. 2. We often complain about umpiring...last night's home plate umpire was simply outstanding. I don't think he missed a pitch for either side all night. Now on to today...Valencia still sucks.
snepp Verified Member Posted July 29, 2012 Posted July 29, 2012 The Willinghammer says, "split this #$%&@."
NorthwestTwinsFan Provisional Member Posted July 29, 2012 Posted July 29, 2012 Willingham is a man amongst boys, as the saying goes.
Guest USAFChief Guests Posted July 29, 2012 Posted July 29, 2012 Might not want to hang that slider down and in, meat.

There are some terrific umpires around the league that don't get the recognition they deserve, and he is one of them.

Its not a 3 inning judgement from me... Its a more of the same crap from me... I guess I was just expecting the trip to AAA to be a wake up call. Hitting is tough... The pitchers are working to get you out. Ill give him a pass for that... His next at bat could be better... But not moving your feet on D... That's on you... You'd think he'd want to come back and show Gardy something. First play back and a run scored. It's one thing to say you want it and I'm sure he does. Well his first impression on the return is laying back on a ball. Bad mistake.
Bark's Lounge Verified Member Posted July 29, 2012 Posted July 29, 2012 Boy, it would really suck if they trade JW. In a season that has been covered in a frosting of dog fecies - it sure would be nice to see Willingham challenge the 40HR mark in a Twins Uniform. That would make him only the 2nd player in Twins history to do that.

Guest USAFChief Guests Posted July 29, 2012 Posted July 29, 2012 I don't want to go all VodkaDave on Samuel Deduno, or anything. He is, after all Samuel Deduno, and he can lose the strike zone at any moment. But...this is not your typical Twins-type pitching call-up. Samuel has some above average stuff.
snepp Verified Member Posted July 29, 2012 Posted July 29, 2012 Dickbert can really drive me up the wall. In this inning alone... "Justin Masterson is a sinker/slider-type pitcher." "a utility-type player." "a pull-type hitter." "a get-me-over-type pitch."
snepp Verified Member Posted July 29, 2012 Posted July 29, 2012 But...this is not your typical Twins-type pitching call-up.You're evil.

He back doors the spinner on lefties well.
NorthwestTwinsFan Provisional Member Posted July 29, 2012 Posted July 29, 2012 Well, Valencia finds a way to get on first base, so I suppose a little credit is due (even though that was a pretty bad call by the ump).
snepp Verified Member Posted July 29, 2012 Posted July 29, 2012 I assume Deduno gets his whispering fix between innings.
Bark's Lounge Verified Member Posted July 29, 2012 Posted July 29, 2012 Easy to be a Willingham fanWho would have thunk it 8-9 months ago? No more complaints from me.
Guest USAFChief Guests Posted July 29, 2012 Posted July 29, 2012 Kotchman might or might not have gotten the bag, but he was a lot closer than Danny. Did anyone else think the 1st base ump double clutched there? "He's ou...ou...SAFE!"
Guest USAFChief Guests Posted July 29, 2012 Posted July 29, 2012 Well, Valencia finds a way to get on first base, so I suppose a little credit is due (even though that was a pretty bad call by the ump). You'll forgive me for not giving Danny any credit for Hanahan's bad throw.
NorthwestTwinsFan Provisional Member Posted July 29, 2012 Posted July 29, 2012 Off the scoreboard type triple.I have a feeling this is going to be the running joke of the night. Although in Snepp's defense, he was right to call out Dick and Bert.
Guest USAFChief Guests Posted July 29, 2012 Posted July 29, 2012 I assume Deduno gets his whispering fix between innings.Son of Sal is obviously calling the game from the dugout. Relay-type signs to Deduno through Mauer.
NorthwestTwinsFan Provisional Member Posted July 29, 2012 Posted July 29, 2012 You'll forgive me for not giving Danny any credit for Hanahan's bad throw. No, and that was kind of a tongue-in-cheek-type comment. But good things can happen occasionally if you just put the ball in play..
