Is there any concern around Gonsalves' walk rate? He's around 3.3/9 for his career but it's climbed to nearly 4.0/9 in High-A. He had a good start this season but it's been climbing again the last few games. I wonder if his promotion will be held off on the worries that it could get a lot worse at AA? Burdi/Reed and others have shown how tough that jump is for pitchers who aren't consistent strike-throwers.

Most say that the jump from Hi-A to AA is the biggest (before the big leagues)... I'm not concerned about his walk rate, but it is worth watching. Last night, he walked two guys in the 7th inning before being pulled. His line looks better last night with just two walks instead of four. I noticed something similar in another recent start. Seems like he fights in later in games. I don't see it as a big problem, but worth monitoring.

This is weird... I was told, "he should pitch sometime this week."

I dont get it. David Martinez was terrific in his first 2-3 starts for the Red Wings. Struggled some in his most recent start. I'm hoping to find out more specifics.

That sounds like Meyer is back in the bullpen, doesn't it? But it is mirroring his stint with the big club....no clear word on what his role is, then tons of days off. They are not doing Meyer any favors. And this is year three of questionable decisions on his usage and development. Ugh.

How is it year 3 of questionable decisions on his usage and development?

In 2014, he was really good as a starter.

In 2015, he was really bad as a starter, moved to the bullpen to try turn him around, that didn't go well, though he did end the season OK.

In 2016, they decide to give him another shot to start. He does well for 3 games, gets called up to work long relief. Midway through that, they put two starters on the DL, so they decide to give him a spot start. Santana comes back so Meyer heads back down... And that's where my confusion starts. That's where I wonder what's going on a bit.

Some of us thought the best pitcher in Rochester, and maybe in that AAA league, should be up in 2014, instead of the guys they ran out there. That's the misuse in 2014. Last year? I don't know, but from the numbers, it looked like he had some very bad luck as a starter, but last year was so messed up I don't blame the FO/field staff.

Meyer probably should have been up, at least to get his feet wet, in 2014.  As you state, he had a good season starting for Rochester, he needed to be added to the 40-man after the season anyway, and even if they wanted to shut him down and cap his innings around September 1st, we were effectively out of the race by the beginning of July yet proceed to waste a lot of innings in July and August on Correia, Pino, Deduno, Swarzak, Burton, and Kris Johnson, all of whom were gone from the organization for zero return by November.

In 2015, Meyer probably should have tried starting again in the season's second half, after it was determined he wasn't going to help the 2015 Twins bullpen, just to get more opportunities/innings.

Meyer had been one of the Twins top (1-2) pitching prospects for years, who was acquired by trading away a stellar CF. He dominated in 2014, while the team was terrible, and yet never got an inning in the bigs that year. He came into 2015 ranked as a top 30 prospect in all of baseball. His dog dies (literally, his dog died), and he starts the season with 8 lousy starts (what was his BABIP during those starts?), and then he is demoted to the bullpen. He gets called up, finally, to the bullpen, and is given 2 appearances (2.2IP) before being demoted back to AAA.

And then this year, which hardly needs rehashing.

I stand by it...I think it has been three years of questionable decisions on his development and usage.
