DeVries has really settled down nicely. At 96 pitches, do you send him out for the 7th? He's on a roll right now - 9 straight batters retired.

I send him out, with the pen ready for a quick hook.

OK, that's it - I have had it. I am calling for a boycott on all Twins ticket sales until they deep six those amazingly annoying "sorta deep thoughts" commercials.

They are hit and mostly miss for me. I did enjoy the Joe Mauer one though (practical joke one)

I will accept giving up one run here.

Let's hope that Duensing's effectiveness as a reliever has not been compromised.

High throw but Mauer needs to catch that.

That's a tough ball to catch. You're moving your center of gravity down to catch what *should* be a low throw at the plate and it sails high and wide. I can't fault Joe for that.

Keep in mind that Mauer only got a glove on that because he's so tall. That sails way over the head of most other catchers.

Looked to me like he should have caught it still.

Mauer looks like he should have caught that because he's about 5" taller than most other catchers. His center of gravity was going down for a low throw/catch/play and Plouffe throws it seven feet high. I'm not going to blame him for barely getting a glove on it.

You have a guy charging in at home the throw was 7+ feet in the air, and you want to blame Mauer?

It was a bad throw but it hit Mauer in the glove. I fault them both.

Nice....out of the inning. Thome comes through again.

Not blaming Mauer, the error was definitely Plouffsie's, and a horribly erroneous throw from that distance, but since Mauer is very tall and great athlete and got a glove on it, he still could have caught the ball and probably should have. He kinda rushed the catch and took his eye off the ball anticipating a bang bang tag at the plate. Good thing we got out of that black cloud of an inning.

He may have rushed the catch but Plouffe was about 60 feet away when he airmailed the ball. It's not as if Plouffe was in the dirt when he threw the ball, he was well onto the grass (without watching the replay). That doesn't allow for much of a reaction time to a terrible throw. Considering that Mauer is crouching and setting up for a low throw at the plate, I'm not going to fault him for not catching a ball four feet high and three feet wide of the target.

It glanced off the end of his glove when his arm was extended. The only fault there is from Mama Mauer for not growing a 6'7" boy.

And wow, the Orioles are awful on defense.

If you could ask Plouffe he'd say it was a terrible throw. And if you could ask Mauer i bet he'd say he should have caught it.

The play finally popped up for replay so I watched it a few times. Yeah, Mauer could have caught that. It appears that he was looking at the runner in an attempt to still make the tag.

I still don't fault him much for failing to make the play. He wouldn't have been able to make the tag even if he caught it.

It's been a while since Plouffe airmailed a ball, hasn't it?

Plouffe is only accurate with his mid irons. Misses a lot of fairways and greens with his woods and wedges.

That's just like my golf game - except for the being accurate with the mid irons part.:)
