Squirrel Community Moderator Posted February 15, 2017 Posted February 15, 2017 We're friends? Cool. Or was that someone else, and my ego is too big?Well, I think of you as a friend. And yes, I was referencing your recent posts asking for music suggestions. And yes, this really happened today. It's how my day started. But I put the ear buds back in place, sat at my desk and music made me feel better.
Brock Beauchamp Site Manager Posted February 15, 2017 Posted February 15, 2017 But back to thre Facebook story, I've been listening to a lot of Amy Winehouse lately as a result. And my continued appreciation for these guys ... a bluegrass band from Finland doing rock covers ... enjoy:https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=e4Ao-iNPPUcI've been meaning to buy a Steve'n'Seagulls album for awhile. Which should I buy first? They've released two albums.
Brock Beauchamp Site Manager Posted February 15, 2017 Posted February 15, 2017 **** it, bought 'em both.
Squirrel Community Moderator Posted February 15, 2017 Posted February 15, 2017 I've been meaning to buy a Steve'n'Seagulls album for awhile. Which should I buy first? They've released two albums.I actually don't own any of their albums ... but I'd go to YouTube to listen to entire songs and then decide. I buy most of my things on iTunes, but no download site gives you enough 'sample time' which is why I usually end up listening to a ton of stuff on YouTube. Honestly, that Thunderstruck cover is one of the best covers I have ever heard. To combine bluegrass with rock as they did ... and still retain the essence of both ... I'm blown away every single time I listen to it. And the level of musicianship on that is just, freakin' incredible.
Squirrel Community Moderator Posted February 16, 2017 Posted February 16, 2017 Also, because our interests and enjoyment of music always evolves, my current top 10 in no particular order:Cake - Never ThereIncubus - Just a PhaseKenny Wayne Shepherd - Blue On BlackGrouplove - Welcome To Your LifeNEEDTOBREATHE - Great NightWeezer - King of the WorldCourtney Barnett - Nobody Really Cares If You Don't Go to the PartyWolf Alice - Moaning Lisa SmileGrace Potter & The Nocturnals - Never Go BackKings of Leon - Red Morning LightVan!!! biggentleben Verified Member Posted February 16, 2017 Posted February 16, 2017 **** it, bought 'em both. This is why I watch my eBay deals every day to see when the $100 iTunes cards go on sale for $85 (or a $50 for $40) and stock up. I'm not sure the last time I had less than triple figures in my account because I go through purchasing music (and digital movies) in large quantities.

Maybe I'll set up an alert on SlickDeals or something so I don't have to think about it much (though I can never get SlickDeals notifications to work *exactly* how I want).
Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted February 17, 2017 Posted February 17, 2017 They are seriously good ... go! I'm not getting much traction of people willing to go on a Wednesday night On a side note, Jimmy Eat World and Incubus are coming to town on August 4th!! I can take or leave Jimmy Eat World, but very very excited for Incubus!!

Pardon My Dinger Verified Member Posted February 17, 2017 Posted February 17, 2017 Baseball games, movies, concerts...these are all things that can be enjoyed immensely without familiar company.
Willihammer Provisional Member Posted February 23, 2017 Posted February 23, 2017 Not very new but been listening to a lot of ELO lately. "jungle" takes me right back to my childhood living room in Brooklyn Center. The green carpet with the pine desk that served as a stand for the record player. And the screw folded over to lock the drawer shut. Wonder what was in that drawer...
Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted February 23, 2017 Posted February 23, 2017 I've wasted more time than I care to admit listening to Smooth McGroove singing acapella to old school video games.... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3ybxnu6_Mo8&list=PLX2MjbJ6GIce-0WtJP1xIA4mNCXI4Mmzf&index=15

Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted April 14, 2017 Posted April 14, 2017 That was my list last year for albums. Artists seems harder
Bark's Lounge Verified Member Posted April 15, 2017 Posted April 15, 2017 Maybe I did it wrong. I was just posting some of my favorites, not what they play on the Current. But I am sure I have heard them play at least a song from 5 of the bands albums I listed.
Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted April 15, 2017 Posted April 15, 2017 Ha. Nope post what you like. They don't Dee lite

Evidently its the top albums as voted on by 8,000 listeners, readers and members of The Current. http://www.thecurrent.org/feature/2016/05/05/893-essential-albums Only real quibble is too much Led Zeppelin. The Internet destroyed them for me, I'm a little surprised more Current listeners aren't hip to some of the straight up theft those guys pulled. edit: http://www.rollingstone.com/music/news/led-zeppelins-10-boldest-rip-offs-20160622
