Fantasy baseball

Looking for one or two more owners to join a highly active, highly competitive league.  The average manager made 53 roster moves last season.  AL-only, 6x6 with some saber-leaning categories (OBP instead of BA, QS instead of W), 8 or 10 teams.

Haven't decided yet. We've done it some years and others not.

I was just looking at some fantasy baseball rankings at CBS Sports. I wanted to see how far down you had to go before you ran across a Twins starter. Sadly. Al Malchoir had the first Twin at #71. And it was Jose Berrios. #77 was Trevor May. The first actual starter was Ervin Santana at #91.

 

Fantasy baseball is not the same as actual baseball, but I believe there is a much stronger correlation than many folks in the Twins front office would like to believe.

Fantasy baseball always sounds like a great idea this time of year. Football's essentially over, NHL and NBA are in the meat grinder of their long seasons, and the anticipation builds up for opening day. Couldn't tell you how many times I drafted a fantasy baseball team, and completely forgot about it by June. 

Good luck finding additional members for your league!

Why not just put a few bucks in and let the winner choose what they do with the money? It's perfectly legal. (Other than in Illinois) And frankly I would rather the $200 (or whatever the person wins) goes to them and their spouse for a nice dinner, or to their kids for a nice toy, rather than what is essentially nothing to a charity (and it keeps people more involved when they can actually WIN something for them, whether it's their child's college fund, a new TV, or a bottle of wine)

This is why I like Daily a bit more then season long personally. Makes you get really pumped when you have a player who hits a couple bombs and 6-7 RBI. In season long its like "oh, that was cool, but doesn't effect much"

An active league, pride and enjoyment in the game is plenty enough to keep everyone engaged. I care more about finding managers who will stay active than I do about finding someone to fork over $50.

So it's okay to put money in a pot for the winner to spend (or, donate) however they want, but it's not okay to put money in a pot for the winner to donate however they want?

I did mean starting pitcher.

 

But to be fair, I might be in favor of Sano to the rotation, at least ahead of Nolasco.
