Tarasenko is on his first extension, ditto Shattenkirk.  Parise and Suter are both on their second major contract.  That is a HUGE difference.  It's apples and oranges.

 

 

Tarasenko was locked for eight seasons instead of given a bridge contract. The Blue paid more up front to keep Tarasenko in the fold during his prime. If he plays as expected, they will pay less on the back end.

 

By "value" I mean not overpaying. It is obvious we disagree.

 

 

The river of 20-20 hindsight flows into the ocean of regret.

 

At some point, it's time to move on.

 

I stated Mauer's the contract was a bad one the day it was signed. I said the Parise/Suter contracts would haunt the team for years, and I stated the Herschel Walker trade was the worst trade in NFL history as soon as it was announced. In each case, the Minnesota press was raving how good each team had done in bringing in major talent.

 

I guess that is hindsight because I did not express how poorly designed each contract was before the information was released to the public. I am not psychic, but I do my best.

 

We can move on.

Signing Mauer was something that HAD to be done. Most popular Twin, new stadium, looked like a lock for HoF. come one people......

 

That said, what matters now? What matters now is what they do with him going forward. There really is only 1 good choice.

Colabello's BABIP is actually up to .395 now. The guy continues to lead a charmed life. I've been following this all season and every time it dips, he goes on a tear and the number climbs again. It's kind of ridiculous.
