Five things that won't happen

Recommended Posts

I enjoy reading everyone's comments on this great site and why I don't have much insight I thought I'd have fun and list five things that won't happen even though some people would like to see them take place.

1. Terry Ryan will not be fired.

2. Joe Mauer will never catch again.

3. Joe Mauer will not be traded.

4. Jose Reyes, Cole Hamels, and anyone else making more than $12 million a year will not be traded to the Twins.

5. Jose Berrios will not be promoted anytime soon and save the Twins' season.

Now, here are five things that just might happen.

1. Miguel Sano will end up with at least ten homeruns.

2. The Twins will trade for two bullpen guys but not give up much at all.

3. Ron Gardenhire will bat cleanup for my softball team next week.

4. Buxton will return in September and be ready to go in 2016.

5. The Royals will regret trading five minor leaguers in the span of two days for temporary help.

I'll go on a limb and say that if those moves lead to a World Series championship they won't regret it too long.

If things work out great.....1-2 of those Royal's pitchers will ever matter in a meaningful way in the majors. If I was a Royals' fan, I'd be thrilled they didn't keep Jason Tyner as their DH, errr, their bad 2nd baseman and added an Ace type pitcher. As everyone knows, it's rare it all falls into place according to plan, when you have a chance, you should take that chance.

That's true but as someone who lives in Royals' country I am hoping that doesn't happen. It was amazing how everyone near me all of sudden became huge Royals' fans last year. They'd been in hibernation for 29 years. Just this year, after the Twins moved into first place, someone posted that they couldn't believe the Royals were behind the Twins. Apparently they forgot the two rings and several division champions our Twins had won since they were last in the playoffs.

Maybe when they showed their outrage they were being silly and looking at the huge discrepancy in talent between their Royals and our Twins and realized that the Twins now are nothing like the WS series teams of over 20 years ago (my son is married, already served a term in the army, just bought his first home and wasn't alive when we last won a WS) nor even like the team that had several division championships last decade.

I see your point but they actually believed that the Twins had done nothing in the last few decades - it basically showed that they hadn't watched baseball but once "their Royals" started winning they were big baseball fans again. Of course, all fan bases are guilty of this.  :jump:

Can you predict if Danny Santana will right his ship this year. He just needs to play baseball and let go of the past stuff. Kid has to much talent at the plate to keep flailing away at outside breaking balls and high and away strikes like Pedro Florimon. He will never be the glove that Florimon is but he sure as heck should hit better just based on how quick his hands and wrists are in getting through the hitting zone.

no i can't

Caution though.  Of the last big 12 July deadline deals, only one of the teams won it all.  It was Pence to the Giants, who had a .670 OPS for them.

Now a lot of those teams missed the playoffs, but the Royals look like a lock right now.

Oh, if they get bounced in the first round and then fall out of the playoffs next year there will be some regret.

I'm not predicting a Royals WS championship but they are the best team in the AL right now.

what percent of teams that didn't add a player won the WS? Only 1 team wins the WS.......

Hard to argue with you on that.
