Deep fantasy baseball league

Made another trade today with the roster crunch in mind and trying to deal from a position of relative strength. I get a bit older, but we'll see.

And kab, I'd hate to lose your baseball presence on this board, though I appreciate your recent frustration; the overzealous, i imagine, will eventually learn their place.

yeah, it's unfortunate to see dave leave and perhaps even more unfortunate to have to read through all of the political/religious debate.

 

i never got into the whole facebook/myspace thing but you guys have my e-mail should you stop visiting these forums. this thread is my only use of this forum. one time i ventured out into the twins chat area and couldn't handle the stupidity, so i'm not shocked to hear kab's concerns.

you ended up getting Jake Arrieta (not sure if anyone ever answered you in the emails) and he actually mightve been the highest rated SP/2B/SS by CBS. he was on my radar.

Really? Look, I consider you my buddy, Dave. But you kinda blew your departure . I'm just not sure it was justified. Yes, there was some weird **** going down, but I really don't understand why that lead you to leave the league...

I don't blame kab either, but while I'm sure I have your email somewhere, will you PM me it just so i have another record or it.

 

I've always really enjoyed our subset of the league; it's just too bad things shake out how they do.

Tim's problem is that he's running and playing in like 20 leagues (an exaggeration). I have no problem with him although he doesn't really take charge of situations. The rest of league leaves a lot to be desired. Steve is a schmuck that enjoyed all of this controversy and didn't even try to explain it until the end. I will continue to deal prospects heavily because this league seems to have a blowup like this often.

Its been building up with Scott and Tim in other leagues I am in. It is really bull**** that they couldn't make the selection I asked for. Especially when we pay CBS to host this league.

I bet there will be openings next offseason. Dave got replaced immediately. It's a fun, complicated league. I'll keep you in mind.

At some point I will probably need to ditch my team but it's a moneymaker. It will just be too difficult to manage while I'm living on a bicycle for months at a time.

You all know of my interest in the league as well from previous years. I'm a guy who has a ton of leagues as well, but I don't feel I have a problem keeping up with them as I've trimmed down a ton in the last few years.

so given kab's comments and private conversations I've had methinks we BYTOers are at the crossroads of needing what amounts to Elysian Fields II in order to keep posting. I enjoy so many of your baseball insights but we arent going to last here. so what if we combined that issue with the conversation here and talked about our own fantasy baseball and our brand of snark. No need to worry about the circumstances here and we can have some baseball intensive fun at the same time? Thoughts? I think most of us are done here - why not keep our much better baseball chatter going? Start our own new fantasy league and use that message board instead.

So this is off topic as its a different league but we have a last minute opening in a keeper league 14 teams 6 keepers, 5x5.

 

The fee is $60 but we might raise it to $100 this year because an owner of one of the teams unfortunately passed away tragically over the weekend, the idea is we are going to take half the money and donate it to the family. If any of you are interested let me know, its a good group of guys mainly in Brooklyn and NYC.

I'll drift between halfway active and inactive here but there are some really good people here also.

 

I have no interest in another fantasy league. I'm probably going to be riding a bicycle around for a majority of the next two summers and I can barely manage one (awesome) team doing that. There's some good baseball people at the fantasybaseballcafe that I visit with some. Good analysis for the most part.

This is mostly for Dave, but others might find it curious. The new owner of BMH has traded Tim Lincecum for a 1st round pick and Carl Crawford. So basically BMH traded a 1st round pick, Michael Pineada, and Alex Avila for Carl Crawford and likely less high 1st round draft pick. Ugh. Poor guy. w

im pretty low on lincecum so i don't think it's terrible in a vacuum. i think crawford is more likely to regain value than lincecum, actually. whether or not he couldve gotten a better package is another story.
