kab21 Verified Member Posted July 21, 2012 Posted July 21, 2012 My team is completely crashing and burning this week. At least I don't have to be conflicted about selling while only a couple of games out anymore. I'm not even sure if I'll make anymore moves though. I've been putting Cuddyer and Buehrle out there but there really isn't any interest so I'm fine with riding out their golden years since I already have a lot of prospects. I'm trying to fight the temptation to shop McCann, Holliday, Haren and Garza though. Except for Holliday their value seems low and even Holliday seems to be overlooked this season. I think the BMH's can be .500 next year since there is some good pitching help on the way but it will take another year or two before you will be fighting for a playoff spot. It is frustrating that there are a few teams that are completely awful with no chance to win (Tim's team is also). But these teams are also going to be awful for several years and they are basically donating to the prize pool.

kab21 Verified Member Posted July 22, 2012 Posted July 22, 2012 I'd be interested in Haren or Garza to be honest.Of course you're interested but I consider both to ace-lites despite their mediocre seasons and the price is sky high. Like your 3 best starting pitching prospects for either of them. Still interested?
DaveW Old-Timey Member Posted July 22, 2012 Posted July 22, 2012 Of course you're interested but I consider both to ace-lites despite their mediocre seasons and the price is sky high. Like your 3 best starting pitching prospects for either of them. Still interested?Um, nope. I disagree with Garza being an "ace" lite and in a league that values wins this high he is basically a middle rotation guy. Also, he is basically having his career average season this year. Haren is on the wrong side of 30. I would give up a prospect package for either one, but I'm not going to give you Harvey, Meyer and Martinez for one of them, all three of which are somewhere near the top 20-30 pitching prospects in all of baseball.
kab21 Verified Member Posted July 23, 2012 Posted July 23, 2012 Like I expected, you're not really interested in trading for either of them. There isn't a buy low opportunity in a league that values top starting pitching this highly. I'll trade you Buehrle for less.
kab21 Verified Member Posted July 24, 2012 Posted July 24, 2012 Mike - did you drop Asher wojalphabet by accident? Someone with your farm system shouldn't be dropping guys like him.
username Provisional Member Posted July 24, 2012 Author Posted July 24, 2012 Mike - did you drop Asher wojalphabet by accident? Someone with your farm system shouldn't be dropping guys like him.did it on purpose but in retrospect it was probably dumb. im not high on the guy at all and actually like my other SP prospects better than him, but probably couldve dropped a guy like yorman or lipka.
kab21 Verified Member Posted July 25, 2012 Posted July 25, 2012 hard to believe that none of you had Kepler. I know that Dave had him once upon a time but he cut him awhile ago. I keep finding new prospects that I need to make room for. I'm guessing Jordan Danks, Miguel Olivo and Ervin Santana will be getting cut in the next couple of weeks although I have no idea what I'll do in the offseason when we need to cut players. I have too many prospects.

DaveW Old-Timey Member Posted July 29, 2012 Posted July 29, 2012 Any of you guys need some last minute help before the playoffs? Guys like Ross, Bay, Venters, Romo, Burton, etc can be had for next to nothing. (see:Swap 2nd round MLB pick for 3rd round MLB pick) Guys like Laroche and Morneau are avail as well but will take a keeper in return. Also, holy hell my team tore it up this week! I have some holes going into 2013 but I think I am looking at a .500 team with the potential to sneak into the playoffs next year.
DaveW Old-Timey Member Posted August 2, 2012 Posted August 2, 2012 Me and Kab made a trade: I get: Sano Robbie Erlin Arcia Hendriks He gets: Harvey Matt Dominguez Alex Torres I hate giving up Harvey but glad I get a high upside pitcher in Erlin back (top 50-100 in a lot of lists) hopefully he doesn't need TJS. Sano and Arcia are what they are and Hendriks hopefully becomes another #3/#4 in my rotation. Dominguez and Torres would have both been cut from my team at the end of the year anyways so I see it as a 1 for 4 trade personally.
kab21 Verified Member Posted August 2, 2012 Posted August 2, 2012 My end is all about Harvey. I needed another really good MLB pitcher since that's what sunk my season this year. I also have found too many prospects to keep this year although I wasn't happy putting Arcia in the deal.

username Provisional Member Posted August 2, 2012 Author Posted August 2, 2012 pretty good trade for both sides although dave has a tendency to overvalue the ability of his young SPs to pan out.. i don't know if i'd be shipping any of them out just yet. that's one heck of a prospect haul, though and im a huge sano fan. i think dominguez is pretty much worthless and torres isnt much better but it looks like kab agrees with me there. kab's team kinda got old pretty quickly but there are some really nice prospects on that roster. if you could flip guys like cuddyer and beurhle that would be pretty sweet.
kab21 Verified Member Posted August 3, 2012 Posted August 3, 2012 The thing is that I don't really need to flip guys like Cuddyer and Buehrle. I have prospects coming up everywhere and there is pretty much zero interest in them.
PseudoSABR Verified Member Posted August 14, 2012 Posted August 14, 2012 Good luck in the playoffs, Mike!
PseudoSABR Verified Member Posted August 14, 2012 Posted August 14, 2012 You gotta represent BYTO.I might see you in the third round of the losers bracket. So watch the well-wishes. Does the losers bracket winner get anything? A wreath full of suck, perhaps?
kab21 Verified Member Posted August 14, 2012 Posted August 14, 2012 You get at least the entry fee back I think but I'll be honest that I don't really care at this point. I'll probably stay involved enough to update my roster but I barely have any MLB'ers on my bench anyway. My team is just tanking right now though. It's like they drove off a cliff right before Haren and Garza got injured. Hopefully those 2 bounce back (Buehrle keeps rolling) and Holland/Skaggs/Harvey bring it next year.
DaveW Old-Timey Member Posted August 15, 2012 Posted August 15, 2012 I might win the losers bracket, my pitches have been on fire. Cobb has been a pleasant surprise.

Does the losers bracket winner get anything? A wreath full of suck, perhaps? i won the losers tourny the first year and i believe it was just next year's entry fee. we changed the payouts at some point, though. team name's annual implode-for-the-playoffs event is underway. i really can't catch a freaking break in this league.
kab21 Verified Member Posted August 21, 2012 Posted August 21, 2012 Tyler skaggs you are it. Haren demoted to the bench instead of 2 start Magic Santana. Not looking good for our BYTO rep in the winner's tourney. come on perfect game and then some.
kab21 Verified Member Posted September 30, 2012 Posted September 30, 2012 Looks like I'll need to cut 8 from my roster to make room for the 5 player cut, clearing the DL and picking 2 in the MiLB draft. Of course I'll try to trade but the bottom end of my roster looks like: Chipper - retiredArredondo - never getting a closer gig in CincyDejesus - I always keeps him and he always does enough to deserve it 3 pitchers with mixed success this year. I'm 6 deep w/o these guys next year.Ervin Santana - pretty much have to keep him (prime trade candidate)BassWood a pile of MiLBers that I need to look at further - a lot of upside/risk that I likeWojciechowskiHarrisonAderlin RodriguezSchoopElier HernandezHeathcottCarlos SanchezGouldFelix Jorge - I'm a sucker for TwinsBettis
kab21 Verified Member Posted November 27, 2012 Posted November 27, 2012 Awesome! I've stirred things up again.
DaveW Old-Timey Member Posted November 27, 2012 Posted November 27, 2012 Yeah, I am not a fan of this off-season trade ****. Some of these guys need to get a life outside of fantasy.
kab21 Verified Member Posted November 27, 2012 Posted November 27, 2012 I wouldn't be so upset if he wasn't so wishy washy with his lying/backtracking. Just man up.
PseudoSABR Verified Member Posted November 27, 2012 Posted November 27, 2012 Yeah, Bee Chem is a chump. But the rule is ridiculous in that it only punishes the noble (or the lazy). If the rule was enforceable, I might feel differently, but there's little gained from having a trading freeze, other than giving people a sure-thing break, which the league should be under no obligation to give.
