Doug Mientkiewicz Named Lookouts Manager

The Chattanooga Lookouts have announced that Doug Mientkiewicz will be their manager in 2015.

 

Chad Allen will remain the Twins AA hitting coach while Stu Cliburn is the pitching coach. They were in the same role last year with the Rock Cats.

Keeping Doug Mientkiewicz in the fold and moving him up to AA w/Buxton, Polanco, Burdi, Kepler, Walker, et al is huge for #MNTwins.

Didn't Mientkiewicz prefer to stay in Ft. Myers for family reasons?  If that was his preference but the Twins still were able to put him where they wanted him, you'd have to think there was either a pretty strong financial gain or implied future advancement to his satisfaction.

This is great. Mientkiewicz was my pick for the manager of the Twins. I hope he gets the job sooner than later.  This is the best place for him. Many, if not most, of the prospects that will make the show can jump to the Twins from here.

I think I read somewhere that Chat, Tn is actually closer to his home.

Bad information.  Chattanooga, TN is about as far away from his home as it is from Des Moines (about 800 miles.)  And it is closer to me (SE PA) for about 50 miles or so.

From the Twins press release, they did not name a hitting coordinator They did name Eric Rasmussen as the pitching coordinator. Sam Perlozzo is back as a roving infield, base running coordinator type.
