Article: Jason Marquis and that sinking feeling

Yes, as Radke showed (and as Liam Hendriks will show), a pitcher can be successful around 90mph with good placement (on the black). The Twins pitchers are not pitching to contact--they're "aiming instead of throwing" with bad results.

The good news is....uh....

Well, either Swarzak or Duensing are better than Marquis. And better than Blackburn, and Liriano. And Pavano.

Is Liam Hendriks still available?

In the real world I wish we could get Jim Kaat to come in and work with our pitchers. He would get the respect of the players and he has a ton of pitching knowledge.

Terry Ryan was the only GM dumb enough to offer this bum a major league deal. Now that they are stuck with a mlb deal Ryan will ride this out until the situation is well past embarassing.

This is the only addition that Ryan made in the offseason that isn't working out well. I guess you send him out there a few more times, but it's pretty rough.

Maybe they should have gone with the Marquis De Sade. An imposing presence on the mound and off.

Masochist says, "Beat me, beat me!!"

Sadist replies, "No."

I think that is a fair assessment. Outside of Marquis (and possibly Zumaya), Ryan's offseason signings have all met or exceeded my expectations. Willingham has exceeded... Doumit's performing up to snuff... Burton has exceeded expectations...Sure, Carroll's not hitting well but considering he was switching leagues, I certainly did not expect his Dodgers production to continue.
