I roller skated in a buffalo herd in the 70's. Also a bad idea.

It was awesome. It hit Long Island and Connecticut. We were in Newport.

Pictures and/or video would be appreciated. I'd even pay to see that one.

There was no video in the (18)70's.

figured I'd take the shot before someone else could

Ripken did have one (and got some fairly nice foundation donations):

But the deluge of the last 3 years is pretty rare. Like I say, I could have seen one for Thome even though he spent time w/different teams at the end.

I think the league would have liked to honor him that way but I also think he's the type who wouldn't have wanted the pomp and circumstance.

Yep ... this is what I was thinking when you first suggested Thome in this regard. But one thing the other article pointed out was that those of the last 3 years ... Jeter, Rivera and Jones ... were not just great in baseball, had long careers, but were with one team, being synonymous with their respective teams. And that could be said of Ripken as well. Thome didn't have that 'synonymity.' Also, he never 'announced' his retirement prior to a season ... he just kind of ... was done.

meh ... nowadays something could be made, taking some photos and putting it together. Still ... it's something I'd pay to see. Even without the buffalo herd .. just you on roller skates. (hmmm ... another ModCon possibility?)

How many photographers have you seen w/gear in the middle of a buffalo herd in the 1870's???????

This buffalo is not fooled ... since Chief is here today, I'd say he was able to outskate this guy ...

The Twins haven't started their possible sale yet, but they are starting to tell teams that if they aren't contending later this month they'll make outfielder Josh Willingham and right-handed starter Kevin Correia available, as both are free-agent eligible after the year.

Anyone in the Chicago area have a recommendation for a good tile person? Just ordered some new tile for my entry and kitchen floor; plus backsplash and undercounter tile. Finally getting to some of these 'touches' after having lived here for 10 years.

I'm going to be in Chicago on the 15th, and I can tile.

Nice! Are you insured and bonded? Of course, my entry is much smaller ... is a condo. And you take up the old floor, too?

Yohan Pino v David Phelps had "pitcher's duel" written all over it when I first saw the lineups.
