twinsfan34 Provisional Member Posted June 20, 2014 Posted June 20, 2014 Great article... From the Blue Collar fit of the organization...to his many talents. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/mlb/news/20140620/brian-dozier-minnesota-twins/
twinsfan34 Provisional Member Posted June 20, 2014 Author Posted June 20, 2014 Also thought this was interesting... "wins scouting director Deron Johnson has a rule that the team always pick a college shortstop within the first 10 rounds of the draft..."Probably why they were so high on Gordon. He's not a college SS...but a SS anyway. Maybe why Levi Michael was a forced pick. IT hasn't quite been 'by the book' as Nelson Molina (PR) was taken in the 11th RD in 2013. http://www.baseball-reference.com/draft/?query_type=franch_year&team_ID=MIN&year_ID=2013&draft_type=junreg& LJ Mazilli was listed as a 2B...didn't sign...9th RD in 2012. http://www.baseball-reference.com/draft/?query_type=franch_year&team_ID=MIN&year_ID=2012&draft_type=junreg& Levi Michael, Tyler Grimes, and Adam Bryant were all picked before the 9th RD in 2011. http://www.baseball-reference.com/draft/?query_type=franch_year&team_ID=MIN&year_ID=2011&draft_type=junreg& Niko Goodrum, HS SS...2nd RD of 2010. http://www.baseball-reference.com/draft/?query_type=franch_year&team_ID=MIN&year_ID=2010&draft_type=junreg&
JB_Iowa Verified Member Posted June 20, 2014 Posted June 20, 2014 I enjoyed the article and i like seeing Dozier get national press. Deserving of a berth in the ASG. Since it won't happen w/fan voting, here's hoping he's recognized by those within the game.

Paul Pleiss Verified Member Posted June 22, 2014 Posted June 22, 2014 I try to send tweets to Brian Dozier regularly requesting audio samplings from Silky Smooth. So far no success. I won't give up. I will have Silky Smooth audio in my ears.

Richie the Rally Goat Community Moderator Posted June 22, 2014 Posted June 22, 2014 Don't look now, but this is at least the second article this season call Bull Dozier under rated. That makes him not under rated any more.
Brock Beauchamp Site Manager Posted June 22, 2014 Posted June 22, 2014 That makes him not under rated any more. Dozier has the highest WAR among second basemen yet isn't in the top three in ASG voting. Still underrated.
Paul Pleiss Verified Member Posted June 22, 2014 Posted June 22, 2014 Dozier has the highest WAR among second basemen yet isn't in the top three in ASG voting. Still underrated. All-Star game voting is a joke. I don't know how to fix it, but I'd start by getting rid of on-line voting, or at least allowing people NOT to vote a million trillion times each day. Let's get back to voting at the ball park, punching out the holes by the fans who are at the games. The fans will elect Derek Jeter to the All-Star Game. Right or wrong, good or bad, Jeter will be an all-star. It's the big names that get votes, and I think Dozier will continue to generate name recognition and praise as long as his level of play continues. Next season we could very well see Dozier getting the cred he deserves in terms of ASG votes.
