Apparently the D-Backs are interested in moving Didi Gregorius and have discussed a deal with the Pirates. This would certainly be worth a call. He is a slick fielding 24 year old. He may never hit a ton, but he has a respectable .250 average, .329 OBP, .693 OPS in 380 MLB at bats as a 23 year old (7 HR). His numbers in the minors were between .700 and .750 OPS. I would not give up Buxton, Sano, Meyer, or Kohl. But he would be an upgrade at SS and he would fit in nicely with our young
Recently we have heard beloved leader Ron Gardenhire extol the virtues of "flexibility" when constructing a roster. I agree. In fact, I will go one step further: I think the roster should be constructed to allow for the flexibility of platooning several positions within the lineup.* Although the Twins have had fewer financial restrictions since the opening of Target Field (at least theoretically) the talent within the system just is not there yet. As the title of this blog entry indicates, I intend this to be the last entry. For reasons I won’t go into now I have basically curtailed my participation in this site and on this blog. That’s OK. My life is moving in new directions and the changes are exciting, and as I move on to new things it is only natural that some of my earlier passions diminish and fall by the side. At Fort Myers, we can sit next to minor league prospects, scouts, and knowledgeable fans. In past years, TR was on the premises and talked with fans sharing much more than makes the papers. Thats what I would do if I were Sam What else has he got to do? He was the teams best starter last year he would be no worse than number 2 this year.. AND Gibson was horrible last year, only hype saved him. I dont get this, I guess the bright light is..Deduno is in the bull pen for one reason, when there is a hiccup in the rotation and there will be..Sam will be there to save us again.
According to Rhett Bollinger, Gibson is the only one in the running for the 5th starter that will have another start. Could he actually win the job and break camp with the team? Gibson as the 5th starter and Deduno in the bullpen would be ideal for me. Obviously you want Joe in the lineup wherever you can get him. The problem is he is playing the one position we can reserve for far less talented players. Colabello should come North, but where do you play him? Yes he can DH, but why wouldnt you put Mauer in the outfield or 3b, talk about competition for Plouffe...Another issue now with Sanos arm, can he play 3b? He might have to play first...yes I keep Joe in line up no matter what, but we are wasting him at 1b
