Weather has been a factor in the early part of the minor league schedule. Rochester was forced to play two seven-inning games on Tuesday because of weather issues on Monday. The Miracle had some weather issues of their own on Tuesday as their game got called early in the day. For the coming weeks, it likely means there will be plenty of doubleheader action in the Twins system. The games have to get played but it has been a long winter in different parts of the country and it could take awhile
hello Twins Fans, Once again, my dad and I will host Troy's Twins Chat tonight starting at ten. We'll discuss the other managers that have won 1000 games in their MLB careers to give a historical perspective of the company Ron Gardenhire is in. We'll also discuss the shortstop position. And, we'll take your calls. To listen to the show, click on the following link. http://www.blogtalkradio.com/the-troy-larson-show/2014/04/09/troys-twins-chat
The Cedar Rapids Kernels opened their 2014 season with a split of their four-game series with the Clinton Lumber Kings. The weather over the weekend was tolerable, with highs in the mid 50s to around 60 degrees, but Thursday’s Opening Night was far from delightful, with temperatures in the 30s and occasional rain. On Friday, the weather forced the season’s first postponement. On Monday, the team boarded their bus for their first road trip. They’ll play six games in Michigan before retur
7 days into the Minnesota Twins 2014 season is fun to look at. 4.3% of the games are done, and it has an interesting vibe to start the season. If I were to tell you: Joe Mauer 7k's, 0 RBI, .250 Avg Brian Dozier is batting .143 10K's Arcia/Willingham injured The Minnesota Twins would be 3rd in the Majors in Runs scored??? If I gave you those same stats and you added in the fact that our pitching staff has a 6.46 ERA, and going into the beginning of the season our biggest opportunity was
Here is my updated prospect list given the recent trade, releases, and injuries. This will be the last time Josmil Pinto appears on my prospect list. In two years he has moved from 50 to 5. This is yet another justification for building out long prospect lists like this. 1. Byron Buxton 2. Miguel Sano 3. Alex Meyer 4. Kohl Stewart 5. Josmil Pinto 6. J.O. Berrios 7. Eddie Rosario 8. Jorge Polanco 9. Stephen Gonsalves 10. Max Kepler 11. Trevor May 12. Lewis Thorpe 13. Adam Walker 14

Every Monday I'll recap the Twins' weekend series and throw in some silly stuff at the end for the kids. Come for the analysis, stay for some muted chuckles. Let's go! Weekend Recap Hey cool, the Twins looked pretty good this weekend. After dropping two of three to a ratty White Sox team, they won two of three ag
This is the 3rd year I have been writing about the big lefty from California. Wheeler has steadily moved through the organization from Beloit to Fort Meyers to now...Fort Meyers? Ok I get it. He doesn't throw as hard as the sexy guys, Meyers, Berrios, Stewart etc. All he does is go out every few days and give you 5 to 6 solid innings. He is the very capable Kenny Jay of organization. Maybe, just maybe this year he could be bringing big Sexy Back to the Miracle and beyond. Jason has been workin
After watching the Twins today in Cleveland, several impressions come to the forefront. First, the pitching seems to be no better than last year, and quite possibly even worse. The starter, Nolasco, stunk it up with 5 runs in only 4 innings, and could not seem to locate his pitches to save his life. The bullpen quickly coughed up two more runs, a performance that could put a game essentially out of reach by the halfway mark. The defense was also laughable, with somebody inexperienced manni
Originally posted at http://troystwinsdugout.wordpress.com/2014/04/05/a-look-at-the-managers-with-1000-wins/ Ron Gardenhire won his 1000th game today in Cleveland as the Twins beat the Indians 7-3. He's now part of a list that now includes 60 managers. Let's highlight some of the managers that are on this list. The Manager with the most wins is the Philladelphia Athletics, Connie Mack, with 3,731 wins and he's also the leader with the most losses at 3,948. he won 9 penants and 5 World Seri
Some of my fondest childhood memories were with the Twins game playing on the radio in the background. I remember going to bed early on school nights against my will and catching the end of the game on my transistor radio laying there in the dark in my bed. I remember laying elbows down on the living room carpet in front of a black and white tv on a Saturday afternoon watching a ball game while sorting my Topps baseball cards in to piles by team and wishing I had a few bucks to buy some more
The highlight of this week's episode is an interview conducted with the Twins relief pitcher Casey Fien. We discuss the path his career took as he made his way from a 20th round draft pick to an Opening Day roster and what his strategy is when he's out there on the mound. You can follow Casey on Twitter, @CaseyFien. You can download the new Talk to Contact (@TalkToContact) episode via iTunes or by clicking here. It was "Meet the Kernels Night" at Veterans Mermorial Stadium in Cedar Rapids Tuesday night, giving local fans and media a first look at the 2014 version of the Twins' Class A Midwest League affiliate and giving the Kernels players their first look at chilly Iowa April temperatures. After the media portion of the event, players and coaches mingled with fans on the concourse to chat and sign autographs. Then, they shed their parkas for a brief workout. The cold temperatures meant a pretty sma
I am not a follower of Donald Trump. I have participated in several no kings rallies and am disgusted with what he and his followers have done to our country and the world. I would like to know what most Brazilians feel about the United States now and about the folks our citizens have elected to represent us.
