Looking to bolster a somewhat depleted and disappointing hot dog rotation, the Minnesota Twins will add a fifth hot dog to their hot dog starting rotation. In order to make the best possible decision, the Twins will wait until after Friday night's game. While the new hot dog will not debut in front of the home crowd until after the current road trip, many fans are paying close attention to which hot dog will be selected. Schweigert, the Twins' ho
The Twins managed just three hits against the Oakland Athletics and Jon Lester and lost the game by a score of 3-0. It will not be much easier for the Twins on Friday night as they face Scott Kazmir and his 2.53 ERA. Down in the Minor Leagues, things went a little better for the organization. Red Wings Report Rochester 7, Indianapolis 0 Box Sean Gilmartin picked up his second win at AAA to move his record to 2-3 with six scoreless innings against the Indianapolis Indians. Gilmartin gave
I got a bit video crazy Thursday night and if you'd like to see a bit of the result, click here to head over to Knuckleballsblog.com for a look. Video of Jake Reed's work on the mound in the 9th. Mitch Garver's leadoff double in the 11th. Bryan Haar's game winner, driving in pinch runner Jon Murphy to beat Kane County 4-3.
Making prospect lists can be difficult. When evaluating players across 7 different minor league teams and various foreign backgrounds, it is a challenge to weigh floor, ceiling, age, and established progress through the system. I wanted to provide an updated list of Twins prospects. I also thought I would not take the easy way out and just list half of all the good or good-ish minor leaguers in the Twins system (which is what the "top 70" list comes down to!). I try to balance out younger hi
Tuesday night was a big deal at Veterans Memorial Stadium in Cedar Rapids. Twins Joe Mauer and Ricky Nolasco were in the Kernels’ line up together and at least twice the usual Tuesday night crowd squeezed in to the ballpark to watch them. I don’t know that from witnessing it first hand, but only from accounts from media and family members that used my season tickets that night. Seems I had foolishly committed to making a business trip to St. Louis Sunday through Wednesday this week. So I
Last year, I decided to put together a top 20 list that became a top 21 list (b/c I forgot to include Kepler) towards the end of the season in large part b/c the product on the field was pretty bad and b/c I wanted something to talk about. It seems like it could be a fairly fun tradition to maintain, so I'm doing it again this year. I've expanded it out a bit more, and this is in large part due to the fact that the system has gotten stronger. The results from many of the 2012/13 drafts have been
Besides swapping Sam Fuld for Tommy Milone, the Twins didn't make a major trade at the non-waiver trade deadline. There were rumors about Kurt Suzuki or Josh Willingham ending up in a new uniform but those rumors never came to fruition. Even though the team has been in the midst of a rough three year stretch, the club hasn't been very active around July 31st trade deadline. One clear move made by the front office signals a lot for the future make-up of the franchise. Kurt Suzuki signed a two-y

This week we discuss the roster moves that happened surrounding the trade deadline, and talk about how the Twins are going to put a roster together when Joe Mauer returns. We muse ont he future of Ron Gardenhire and who is going to manage the Twins in the future. We talk about some of the young taelnt coming through the organization and how everything could fit tog
Kennys Vargas made his Target Field debut on Tuesday night and did not disappoint. The big fella hit a three-run home run to give the Twins a 3-1 victory, despite being out hit by a tally of 12-5. Phil Hughes once again looked like the Phil Hughes that was exciting Twins fans in the first half. The Twins won on Tuesday, but throughout most of the Minor League system, there was not a lot of excitement, as only the Kernels managed a victory. Red Wings Report Rochester 0, Louisville 1 Box
Bill would make a move...trading for Delmon was good on paper, that is until Bartlett was included...but I digress... Yeah..i know he traded Hardy who was hurt all year and hit 220 when he could play..Nshiokia was a Japanaese MVP...how could we have known? But what I liked about ole Bill..he would make a deal...Terry Ryan is like watching paint dry..if he dont screw ya..mean you havent traded with him... Here we are again...please..paint..crack somewhere!
Scott Diamond beats the Red Wings tonight and was very good. If he resurfaces, and succeeds with his new team, Anderson must be fired this will solidify his critics and he should be fired with or without Gardys approval or if it causes losing Gardy too.then so be it..
Originally posted at Kevin Slowey was Framed! Weekend Recap I managed to catch the entire series this weekend, but I also had a pretty nasty fever so I'm not really sure what I did and did not see. I've nearly recovered, but this is still going to be a bit on the short side because I'm all out of cool washcloths. I'm pretty sure I saw a beatdown on Sunday, but that just doesn't seem right. I know the Twins took two of three in Chicago and that's always fun. Danny Santana My friend sent me

He started his professional career 11 and half years ago, initially he played for the Under-20s in the South American Championship. He made his debut for Argentina against Uruguay. However, it was his first international appearance for his Nation, before that he used to play for the club, River Plate. Javier Masc
The Minnesota Twins offense exploded twenty-three hits to pound their rival White Sox on Sunday afternoon in Chicago, 16-3. Danny Santana was 5-6 and a home run shy of the cycle, while Chris Parmelee (2-2), Oswaldo Arcia (3-6), and Eric Fryer (3-6) hit back-to-back-to-back home runs in the ninth inning with the game well in hand. Arcia’s mammoth blast cleared the seating in right field, and was estimated at 452 feet, which would be the longest HR of the year at U.S. Cellular field per ESPN’s H
In the majors, Minnesota Twins starter Yohan Pino ran into trouble in the seventh inning, and it led to four runs and a 6-4 Chicago White Sox lead. The Twins were able to make an immediate comeback with a three fun eighth inning however, punctuated by a two-RBI double off the bat of Oswaldo Arcia. They would add an insurance run in the ninth, courtesy of Danny Santana’s fifth home run, and Glen Perkins shut the door on the White Sox to pick up his 27th save on the year. In the minors, one af
We did love you Joe...and now we can see why the Twins insisted on you catching. Frankly a non-power hitting first baseman at .270 just doesnt rock our world. And now once the hottest commodity in baseball. we couldnt trade you if we wanted to. So do we just keep you on th the bench and eat one of the richest contracts in baseball? uh..yeah...We dont have a choice, now do we?
The day has to be coming, doesn't it? This is the 4th year in a row that could be heading toward 90+ losses. For most managers or coaches in any sport, 1 or 2 poor seasons spells the end of their days with that team. Ron Gardenhire, however, has managed to keep his job during a dark time when a change is necessary. To make matters worse, much of the coaching staff has stuck around as well. One of these days, a change has to happen. The root of the problem is a front office that is tethered to
The Twins had a busy day, but not as busy as some fans had hoped. They moved Sam Fuld back to Oakland in return for the soft-tossing lefty Tommy Milone. Milone will report to AAA for now, but should be up with the Twins before the end of next week. The Twins tried hard to find a buyer for Kurt Suzuki, but finding no suitors, the Twins bought high on Suzuki themselves, signing him to a two-year $12 million dollar extension, with a vesting option for a third year. To replace Sam Fuld on the 25-man
In a wild MLB Trade Deadline Day that saw David Price to Detroit, Jon Lester and Jonny Gomes to Oakland for Yoenis Cespedes, John Lackey to St. Louis for Joe Kelly, and even Stephen Drew from Boston to the Yankees, Terry Ryan and the Minnesota Twins' front office can hold their heads relatively high. They locked up All-Star catcher Kurt Suzuki for two more years at $12 million with a slick vesting option for a third year based on plate appearances, as Mike Berardino tweets. The Twins played it
(Originally posted on www.twinsandlosses.com) The Twins know when to Fuld them. They know when to walk away, know when to run. The Twins made moves after they convinced themselves that they were much better off than they actually were. Colabello was red hot to start the season. Gibson was putting up impressive stats for his first month. And Joe Mauer was non-existent. Well Bello cooled off, Gibson isn't the fireballer we thought, and Mauer is still M.I.A. That's not to say the Twins don't have s
It is now time to start thinking about proper roster movements in considering the Twins in 2015 and how to best position the team for an actual productive season next year. This involves September call-ups and Arizona Fall League decisions. I submit the following: 1. Josmil Pinto and Chris Herrmann should be back up with the team. Both have now smacked AAA pitching. Hopefully for Eric Fryer's sake, the Twins will have traded Suzuki by this time. Otherwise, there is just no reason to have him a
In mid-June, after a brutal first half to their Midwest League season, the Cedar Rapids Kernels limped in to the MWL’s All-Star break with a 31-39 record, not only 14 games behind Western Division leader Kane County, but also 7.5 games behind the Burlington Bees. The latter is important because, in the world of Class A minor league baseball, seasons are split in to two halves, with the first and second place teams in each division, each half-season, earning berths in the postseason playoff ser
On Saturday, Tait went 2-for-4 with a walk and his 17th double. The 19-year-old is hitting .219 with 17 doubles and 15 home runs at High-A Cedar Rapids.
