  1. Thanks for these, Andrew. Wouldn't surprise me if one or two of these dropped and was available to the Twins at #20. But will they take him if he does? Next week should be exciting!
  2. Could that have been Thorpe's first D-O-M-I-N-A-N-T game? Would like to see another inning and maybe one less walk (1 instead of 2). But 8 strikeouts adds to the pitch count. Expect they aren't pushing him too far beyond 90 pitches after missing all of 2015 and 2016. But that was one good game. Now, lets see him repeat it next time out. And he is pitching at AA as a 22 year old. Thank you Lewis for making my morning a good one! Got a question Steve. When the Twins sell a player for 'cash considerations,' is that cash? Or can it also be International Pool $$$? Or would it be specified as Int'l pool $$$, if that were the case?
  3. Enjoying your time in Cedar Rapids, Seth? A 2-5-3 triple play sure isn't the norm. What a game.. Also wondering if Arraez was injured or what the reason was to replace him early in the game? Don't know a lot about Sawyer who is hitting well in a SSS at AAA. Looked up his history and see that he has been hitting relatively well the last couple years in Hi-A and AA. Toss in Navarreto hitting well at AA and Grz also hitting at Hi-A...maybe the Twins organization isn't as thin behind the plate as we think. Two of them are new to the organization. That seems to prove what new management was talking about when they worked to improve the talent level throughout the organization.
  4. Yes, offense is the current problem for this team. But Rosario and Kepler are proving they can and will be the cornerstone of this team for a long time. Getting Mauer back will help as will Polanco, assuming he isn't totally outta whack after not playing for the first half of the season. At least he will be fresh for the drive to the playoffs in August and September. Sano isn't the hitter everyone expected he would be. Won't get into a discussion of why. Can he be someday? Maybe. Right now there are enough questions about him that they can't get what one would hope for in a trade.
  5. Expect that at least half of these players from this group of 10 will be available when the Twins draft at #20. Wouldn't be surprised if it is one of those five high school pitchers between #14 and #20.
  6. Another nice game for Rortvedt. Seems like his bat is coming around. Still a long way off, but gotta believe he can be the Twins starting catcher for a decade. Any word on what is going on with Stewart? Checked the local paper and didn't find anything. Last outing was certainly bad and if that was do to a nagging injury he would have gone on the DL. Could be lots of answers, some not what we would want to hear.
  7. Nice game for Rooker, who now has 6 home runs. Seems like he has begun settling in at AA. And Wiel just keeps hitting really well! Checked the box score for Cedar Rapids, Eric. I think you flipped Enlow's walks (4) and strikeouts (6) in the write up above. Great seeing Enlow have a game like this. And Gonsalves is probably ready for a move up after back-to-back shutout games. But when will a spot open up? Maybe July if they have excess starters and can move one? Or will they have to move two to make room for Gonsalves? If so, who? The Twins may be in position to pick up several nice young prospects in July. Otherwise, probably won't see him until September. But they have to get Gonsalves up some time to confirm that he should be one of their starters next year and beyond. Knowing that will affect what they do with Santana, Gibson and Lynn in the offseason.
  8. Some of us are waiting on a dominant performance from Thorpe...then another and another. But he just can't get that first one behind him. Tonight, his routine was off as he came on in the third inning in relief of Santana. And then there was the Lookouts defense, or lack thereof. A one out error followed by a second error (throwing) one batter later led to 3 runs crossing the plate before Thorpe could get out of the 4th inning. An error on the lead off hitter in the 8th inning led to 2 more unearned runs. Three nice innings between the sloppy 4th and 8th innings should be something to build on as we await his first shut down start.
  9. Luis Arraez is on a 6-game hitting streak, with 2 hits in four of those games. Great to see him getting back to where he was before the injury. Expect May is going to need all 30-days of his rehab assignment.
  10. I hate this crazy rule of putting a runner on second base in extra innings. If there is a concern with the length of games in MiLB, play a couple extra innings and if still tied...book it as a tie. Don't change how the game is played. Graterol is so exciting, but there will be speed bumps along the way to the "show." Hopefully Slegers will get the call for some of these spot 'double header' starts.
  11. Didn't we see some pitcher who had recently converted from starter to the pen at Target Field last night. Man, he was good. Does Anderson have stuff anything like Hader? Next question for Seth and everyone here...who gets to the big leagues first, Lewis or Kirilloff? My vote would be Kirilloff. As for prospects, when does someone move Zander Wiel up into their Top 20? Plus today will be exciting to follow Cedar Rapids with Graterol on the mound. Thanks for the heads up!
  12. Its been a long time since I was a Brewer's fan, over 30 years. And I haven't followed them at all for year's, but they look like a real good team. And that back end of the bullpen is just plain nasty! Is it possible that we have seen Joe Mauer play for the last time? If this lingers too long, he may just retire. Or will he wait until October? Remember going to a spring training game a long time ago and saw Kirby play, well, like Kirby. The next day he was scratched and his career was over. You never know when it ends for some of these stars we have followed for so long.
  13. Five shutout innings for Stewart with only two hits is good. One strikeout and four walks isn't. I guess he is a pitcher who will not dominate a game like we have seen Berrios, Romero, Graterol or even Gonsalves. My question, Seth. Do you see a pitcher with this type of stuff/ability able to be successful in the big leagues? Or do you see his ceiling more of a AAAA type that will struggle to break into a good starting rotation?
  14. Grossman was in for Morrison, who had a night off versus a tough lefty. Adrianza won't see much playing time as soon as Sano is back and Escobar moves back to short. Wilson is the backup to a backup. Buxton should come around once he gets back into a groove following his injuries. And Polanco will be back the first of July. I know a lot of us, including me, have been disappointed in the Twins so far this spring. Yet, they have played most of the year without four players (of the eight position players) who were projected to be their opening day starters...Castro, Polanco, Sano and Buxton (for several weeks). That's a lot for any team to overcome. Let's see where they are come All-Star time.
  15. Expect the Twins view May's first start at AAA as a success. He should get at least four more starts before his 30 day rehab is up. Lots of time to get into shape to come up and help the Twins. But will there be a spot for him in their rotation? Followed the Lookouts game last night on my ipad. Was shocked seeing Thorpe give up home run after home run, four, early in the game. Fortunately, they all were solo and the Lookouts came back for the W. But the Lookouts hit three out, leading to a question. Does anyone know if Biloxi's stadium is on the small side? Or maybe the temp/humidity came into play as 7 home runs is a lot. With Thorpe on his first of three options, I went back to look at his career. Pitched well in the GCL as a 17 year old, followed by another good year at Cedar Rapids as a young 18 year old. But then he missed all of his 19 and 20 year old seasons. Came back last year with a successful season at Hi-A Fort Myers. Yes, he wasn't as good in a few late season games in AA, but the year was a success. Although you can find something good in almost every start this year, he is no where near dominating AA as a 22 year old. And for a pitcher some of us believe has the potential to be a front of the rotation starter, he has to dominate AA...at some point. But considering his age and after missing two years, he has lots of season remaining to gain experience and settle in at AA. If he can do that, there should be no problem seeing him join the Twins sometime during the mid-to-late part of next year. Come on Lewis, there are lots of us waiting to see you pitch at Target Field.
  16. Tommy Milone is now getting lit up at AAA. Maybe time to move into coaching? Great seeing Rooker with a 4-bagger while that average moves up. Keep this up for another couple weeks and everyone's concerns should be behind them. But he isn't the best hitting first basemen on that team. Wiel is having a great season...hope the Vandy product keeps it up. Great baseball school, hell, a great school.
  17. Don't need anyone today, or tomorrow. Expect they will upgrade their depth at some point over the next couple months.
  18. I really like Tom's suggestion. Piggy back him with Santana. Yes, that would mean one less arm in the bullpen. BUT, the entire bullpen would get a day off every 5 days. Just may work. Begin with Romero going 5-6 innings with Santana coming in to finish it. After a few of those games, flip so that Santana comes in and pitches 5-6 innings with Romero finishing. If Romero only pitches 3+ innings every 5th day for the last half of the season, his innings should be fine and his arm fresh for the playoffs.
  19. Like Slegers success at AAA. Can he be a decent #4 or #5 starter for the Twins some day? Doubt he will get the chance, but would like to see him get a few starts to see if he can be ok. That would give him more value should the Twins decide to move him this summer or next winter. Appears that Rooker is settling in at AA. Has hits in his last seven games (8 of 10). Not any extra base hits in his three hit night last night, so that is the last part of his game to get on track. Did a double take when looking at today's Chattanooga box score and saw they were 11 games over .500. Hadn't looked at their record of late, but remember they got off to a really bad start the first week or ten days. Hell of a lineup again this year. The Lookout fans gotta be real happy since the Twins took over the franchise.
  20. It may be time for Twins Daily to set up some type of poll or pool...who will be the first Kernels player promoted to Fort Myers? Lots of great candidates!
  21. If he is #2, that would put him ahead of either Lewis or Romero, right? If he is #1, he would be ahead of both. Or don't you consider Romero a prospect any more? Lewis is a potential five tool superstar. Graterol is a potential hard throwing ACE. Who is more valuable to a team and worthy of the top slot, now that's an interesting question?
  22. Just checked Lamont Wade's stats. He has 11 strikeouts in 111 at bats with 19 walks. Result is a .402 OBP. Also saw that Lewis has almost as many stolen bases (10 in 11 attempts) as strikeouts (11) in just under 100 at bats. Maybe those two guys will cut into the number of K's the Twins take in a few years. Although I don't have a clue where Wade can play other than a 4th outfielder spot as I expect/hope that the Twins outfield of Rosario, Buxton and Kepler is around for a decade or longer. But he could be an upgrade to the 4th outfielder spot, both at the plate and in the field.
  23. Every one keeps forgetting about Pineda. Expect the Twins have high expectations for him in 2019. Personally, I think we have seen the last of Mejia as a regular starter for the Twins. To many better arms ahead of him.
  24. Although Gibson was effective last night, looing at the results, I didn't think he was pitching well earlier in the game. At one point, he had thrown 52 pitches with only 26 strikes...50%. Was constantly missing the strike zone and sure felt like he was struggling. Great seeing him get thru 6 innings and allowing only a couple of runs.
  25. I thought rehab assignments were 20 days. Did they change it? Or is it different for TJ surgeries? That was why I was asking Seth what he his prognostication was.
