  1. Great article, Cody. Thanks. Add me to the camp of those saying NO to any major trade or free agent signing. Two of these kids should be ready for prime time. Give them the ball and let's see how they do. If one doesn't do well, there are two more waiting for their opportunity. The biggest effect this injury may have is eliminating one of the four from a move to the bullpen. That could have a negative effect on the Twins record this year. Probably should have said will have a negative effect.
  2. Loved your comment, LA, with one exception. Personally, I don't ever want to see Wallner in right field again. I know I will, but I cringe every time a ball is hit that way.
  3. I don't see him being as bad defensively as many of you or the numbers, which I don't always understand. I also don't see him ever being a top defender. For that reason, I remain hopeful that his bat improves, and the Twins find a place where his defense plays. If Houston's glove is as exceptional many reports indicate, I want him as the Twins everyday shortstop. Soon. Don't care what he hits as long as his average starts with a 2!
  4. Don't think you understood what I was trying to say. On the first day of full team workouts, would Lopez have been pitching into the third inning of a simulated game if this wasn't a WBC year? I don't know, but seriously doubt it. Also don't have a clue if this was going to happen anyway and this just brought it on sooner.
  5. Another question related to my question above. Would he have been pitching that third inning yesterday had he not been preparing for the WBC?
  6. Question Matt. Is it possible this is the result of his working harder over the winter to be ready for the WBC? Or pushing too hard the first week of camp to be ready for the Classic? Personally, I don't like having that tournament in the middle of spring training. If they are going to have it, do it in November right after the World Series.
  7. Wow. Will this change the FO thinking prior to the season? Would they consider going all in on a rebuild now? Expect not as most teams aren't looking for a major trade right now. But what if as opening day approaches? Guess we are now looking at 2 of Festa, Matthews, Abel and Bradley, rather than one. Can one of them take that last big step to being our next ACE. Please?
  8. Who? The Twins entire infield is a disaster. Keaschall should be solid to very good at second and Lewis, if healthy and the Lewis of old could be special at third. The other two spots both need a ton of help, especially while playing in the field.
  9. Have a question. When will the writers and some of the commentors recognize that SWR is no longer an unknown prospect? The kid has pitched most of the past two years with very solid results. Everyone says he doesn't have great stuff. That's probably true, however, personally I have no way of knowing. But his results sure seem to be competitive. Seems every game he gives the Twins 5 or so innings and a real chance at winning the game. I don't know if he will be their #5 or #4 starter in 2026. Seems he deserves to be one of those. As for adding another starter, NO, they should spend their time and dollars filling other holes on the roster.
  10. Other than Jenkins and several International guys down at the lowest levels, there isn't a lot to get excited about. Maybe Winokur? Fortunately, the Twins should be set for nearly the next decade with the trio recently added to the 40-man and Jenkins. Maybe one of those Latin guys will turn into a good one three or four years from now.
  11. As I read these articles, I am intrigued by comments appearing about Shelton mentioning TK. Correct me if I am wrong, but I don't remember Rocco talking about TK or having a relationship with him? Will TK be in spring training this year? Would love Shelton getting that surly old TK out to help turn this team into one that works at playing the game the right way. TK's way. Seems this team has been going in the wrong direction ever since TK left, certainly since Gardy was gone.
  12. Guy looks to be a big add for the Twins pen. Really don't understand why the Dodger DFA'd him? Seems to make no sense, at least to me. Is he the best arm, or at least proven arm, in the Twins pen? Now all they need is Liam Hendriks and Rodgers to show up as the pitchers they were a couple years ago and one of their young starters to be the 2026 version of Louie Varland and all could be good. Well, some of us old guys can dream, can't we?
  13. Nothing about SWR screams he belongs in the Twins starting rotation. That is except his results over the past what, two years. Or is it three?
  14. I expect GM's don't put a lot of thought into BBTV when making deals. Otherwise, how would the Odorizzi for whatever A ball prospect we gave the Rays have happened? What I expect is GM A has a certain need and GM B has a player who could fill that need. Expect it is more likely based on how each GM views players A and B. So to move Larnach for a decent return just needs one of 29 GMs who likes what he brings to the table and has a need for a left-handed hitting corner outfielder.
  15. Great way to start my morning, John. It brought a big smile to my face, thanks. Now will the Twins have a spring that will keep that smile coming back every morning?
  16. Got a good smile from your last comment, bean. Thanks. Could we be so fortunate this guy would work hard for two years with great results. Should that happen, it would then be time to move on from him with a big return. That's assuming he has more than two years until free agency. He does, doesn't he?
  17. Interesting read, Cody. Thanks. Thought about your grade 'D' and kept wondering, should it be C-? After some thought came to realization that no, your D is probably where it should be. The off-season can get much better should the GM do what they all are saying, ie, bring in another bullpen arm, or two? The only way I can see them doing that is via a trade, which to me means moving Larnach as the most logical move. Regarding the pen, do they really believe they have a couple young arms on the roster who WILL become the next Duran and Jax? We don't know what they know. If this is their plan I sure hope they are right.
  18. Great read, Lucas, thanks. Also enjoyed the comments from everyone. So many young maybe starters with questions. Hopefully, one or even two take that next step those great young arms at Cleveland always seem to make. Should one of these be pushing Ryan for the #2 slot the Twins and us fans could have a nice summer.
  19. Was thinking about this, terry, while reading all these comments. How many complete games did Blyleven pitch? Or my favorite pitcher of all time, Warren Spahn? Some of us remember days when the bullpen had one very good closer and several others who almost never saw the mound. Bullpen sure looks different if one of the starter goes 9 innings most games and two others always go 7 or 8. [edit: decided to check, Spahn had 382 complete games, Bert had 242. Both had more than 60 shutouts. Spahn had a complete game in over 50% of his starts.]
  20. Add me to the list of those rooting for Canterino to finally put his health issues behind him. Ever since viewing an interview Seth had with him back whenever, have been very impressed with this young man. Please, let him finally realize some joy out of his professional life. And some success. If the Twins are converting several young starters to the pen, does it make sense that they work more than an inning each time out? Maybe Zebby comes in to start the 7th inning and goes the rest of the way? Or Festa comes in for the 6th inning and gets them to the ninth? They wouldn't be able to pitch every day, but could three of these guys be on a schedule to be available every third game? Say they make 45 appearances averaging 2 or 3 innings (2.5 average), that's 110+ innings.
  21. Another day, another article by you Cody bashing the Twins. Personally, I cannot tell you how tired I am of this. As I read today's post I kept thinking, why do they even play the games. The Dodgers will have the biggest payroll this year, by far. Why not just give them whatever trophy it is for winning the World Series. Why bother playing the season? When we play the Dodgers, if on the road the Twins should just save their travel expenses and give the guys three extra days off because the games are lost. Right? Yes, what I just wrote is ridiculous. But what else can we take from article after article saying the only thing that matters is payroll. I understand the Twins have some problems that need fixing, maybe more than some. But nearly all of these moves were under Falvey's watch and now it seems you are criticizing Tom Pohlad for moving on from him. Also have a question. You guys also have a site that deals with the Brewers. Are you bashing them for the level of their payroll? It was less than the Twins last year. Is it again this year? Just wondering, considering that they had the most wins in baseball last year.
  22. Please listen to what I am saying, I don't care how he compares and have said nothing about it. All I care is that he does a good job defensively for the Minnesota Twins. If he is the worst defensive second baseman in baseball but still does a good job for the Twins, excellent. Finally being healthy, I believe he has the ability to be that. And yes, I now understand what you are saying about average, thanks.
  23. You aren't listening to what I am saying, DJL. I haven't said anything about comparing him to anyone. I don't care how he compares. All I care is that he does a good job playing second base, ie, he is not a liability. My point being that with all his time away from playing in the field and his arm injuries I ask that people give him a chance to be healthy and prepared for a season. To me, seems like you and many have already determined he cannot play second base.
  24. Have seen comments elsewhere about Keaschall's range. He must have excellent speed and quickness, otherwise he wouldn't have been so successful stealing bases. Someone like that should be able to develop the range necessary to be an above average second baseman. I believe his problem was more related to not having played anywhere defensively for what, nearly two years?
