  1. No, his team went the year before he was on it and the year after he went off to college. The most basic rule of baseball got'em, their two best pitchers missed his entire last year. Scarry fact is that he is closer to retirement than he is to his college graduation.
  2. My son was celebrating his 45th birthday last night with his family at the Saints-Clippers game. Asked him to tell me what he thought of Jenkins. Got a text after the game started late, "first at bat home run," How can you not be excited about Quick. I may not remember this right, but weren't his innings during college limited by injury? There is hope, like Prielipp he will get better as he gains more experience. Hopefully, much better. Was excited when I saw that Moring pitched 3+ shutout innings. That was before I saw he put 10 runners on base.
  3. Another day, another 2 hits for both Jenkins and Houston. I know stealing bases in the lower leagues are a crap shoot, but Lackey was 0-6 yesterday throwing out runners. Like Dman, I just shake my head and smile nearly every day when checking the Wichita box score and seeing what Kendle did.
  4. Why would you want to talk about his last 7 games being good when the author clearly wants to talk about his being bad since August 1, which is what, 15-16 games?
  5. Expect both will be traded over the winter, depending on what the Twins can get in return. If not, expect both playing at Target Field come opening day. Problem still remains that on paper the Twins have too many corner outfielders. Nothing they do over the next six weeks seems to indicate they will solve that.
  6. I think the Twins added their 27th player yesterday, Jackson. Fantastic seeing he wasn't claimed and is back with the Twins. I know he replaced Martin, who went on the IR. But Martin will be eligible to come off only a few days before September 1. Wouldn't surprise me to see them wait until the 1st, then bring Martin back off the IL. Would love to see EmRod getting some time in September to see how he adjusts. Unless there is an injury, bringing him up will be surprising.
  7. Do you know, Seth, what Fragoza signed for? Get even more excited when I see he stole 9 bags. With a little luck, maybe he could take over first base for the Twins in mid-late 2028? See that Jenkins also had an impressive week. How did Diaw get 1.000 across the board? Did he only have a couple at bats?
  8. Great comment, shimrod. After reading that quote, I kept wondering why this post was written/
  9. Point after point is telling me that the Brewers are managed so well. Much better than most teams, not just the Twins. I know you guys have another site that covers the Brewers, don't you? With that contact, do you have a clue why they are so much better in their front office?
  10. As I opened your site today, Seth, was wondering how Rojas did in last night's start. That sure went well. As I read further through the post I got thinking about your comment, "the Brewers organization is loaded." I recall that the Brewers spend a similar amount on their team as the Twins. Yet, the Brewers have the best record in Baseball. Wasn't that also the case last year? Why are they so good while also being loaded with future prospects while the Twins aren't? Why do the Brewers have a seemingly unending supply of International prospects arriving while we can't remember who the last one was for the Twins? Was it Arraez? Continue shaking my head but sure seems to me the problem for the Twins isn't payroll, rather their front office and the entire organization who isn't getting it done on a championship level. Makes me wonder if I would be happier going back to being a Brewer's fan?
  11. I know Houston has been stealing a lot of bases. Didn't realize he leads the organization with 47. With his defense and speed, he doesn't have to hit a ton to be a valuable starter at short. But it sure appears his bat is going to be the frosting on his cake. Have been checking each day how Fragoza has been doing. Looks like I am going to need to start checking on Duran also. Looking forward to tonight's start by Rojas. Is it likely he will be the extra pitcher added on September 1?
  12. Great review of the Jackson situation, Dman. Was thinking much the same. But after clearing the trade deadline, I thought the Twins were keeping him as their backup for next year. Maybe they have decided their playoff chances are real and want the best 26 on the field. Or could they be talking with Jeffers' agent about finding a way to keep him for next year and/or beyond? Want to second jmlease1's comment above about Houston. Isn't it fantastic seeing how dominant Jenkins has been of late. Will join those praying that this kid is everything we have hoped he would be. September 1 isn't that far off, will be interesting. Won't it?
  13. Unlike a few, love this game. Wished MLB played this game every year, or at least every other year. Thanks for the input L.A. Vikes that Buxton will be playing. Have a feeling he really wanted to be in this game. Will be interesting to see what the Twins do by Saturday. Roden has only had 55 at bats in over a month, not enough to judge what type of player he can be. But we saw him have a real nice game yesterday, hitting several balls hard. Was it 3 hits or 4? Perhaps the most interesting question related to the topic of this piece is whether or not either of the managers will get tossed arguing balls and strikes?
  14. May be the best day I remember looking at the prospect list. Jenkins, Houston, EmRod, Tait, Winokur and Tinney all with two hits. And Lackey got his triple. Add me to the list of those becoming intrigued by what Gallagher may be. Have a question about Ross, Matt. Young man has moved up the ladder to AAA where he is doing well. I understand his D is excellent in both the infield and outfield, he has good speed, hits for a decent average with some power. Is he a better utility infielder for the Twins? You know, an upgrade to Kreidler? Perhaps as soon as sometime next year?
  15. Have you spoken with Falvey, Pohlad, Ryan or his agent? If not, you don't know why Ryan wasn't traded last year or over the winter. In addition, Tom Pohlad wasn't in charge of the Twins until around the same time as Falvey was leaving. (don't recall the exact dates) The biggest factor weighing on whether or not Ryan is traded this winter is likely how he performs when he returns from the IL. Another major factor will be how well Bradley, Prielipp and Rojas perform over the next 40+ games, along with the health of Abel. Should everything with even three of those four be positive, the Twins need to keep Ryan will be less important.
  16. Thank you. My exact thoughts and you said it so much better than I could have.

  18. Thanks for the report, Seth. Have a question. Assuming the Twins don't call up any of their top prospects prior to the end of the month, who do you think would be that extra position player they add on September 1? Expect the leading candidates to most of us would be one of Wallner, EmRod or Jenkins. Another player could be whomever is sent out when Buxton returns, assuming that is before September 1. If not, maybe Buxton is that added player. As much as many of us, including me, would love seeing a month of Jenkins, I don't see that as happening. Hopefully, I am wrong. Regarding EmRod. Any reason he is at DH in a lot of games rather than in the field? Also, he was replaced by a pinch runner last night. Seems they are being uber careful with his return, meaning it could be awhile. In a related question, I believe they can only add one pitcher, correct? But could they add two position players and no pitchers?
  19. Does Culpepper need to be added to the 40-man this November? Or does he need to be added next year? If this year, the playing next year if there is a lockout doesn't matter.
  20. I doubt they would try to get Jackson thru waivers as they are counting on him being their backup next year when Jeffers is gone.
  21. Fantastic news. Who is the other side of the move? Assume it is Gray going back to St. Paul. While watching last night's game, kept wondering when they would do this. What will be interesting is what they do when Buxton returns, hopefully, within a week.
  22. Was wondering, Sam, if it would make sense to replace the number of games with how many at bats each player had? Or maybe include both? Have the Twins ever had a top hitting prospect who also was All World with his glove? Maybe Torii back when? Or Joe? Or not?
  23. Last night's start by Gallagher got me wanting to know more about him. Thanks, Dman and jmlease for your comments. Would he be the next man up after Zebby and Rojas, should the Twins need more starters? Speaking of Zebby, will be interesting to see if he makes his start tonight. With Ryan flying back to the Twins Cities to meet with the doctors today, Zebby's next start might be with the Twins. Don't know if I have ever seen baserunning like Wichita last night. Houston stole two bags and Diaw three, including each stealing third. Love it! Agree with those above who would like to see Culpepper with the Twins, soon.
  24. Love this kid, especially his energy. Hopefully, we will see him at Target Field, playing for the Twins for many years.
