  1. Yes this just isn't good for his confidence anymore. Everybody seems to think he is a slam dunk out of the pen, but I remember some hard contact along with some big defensive plays when he was in the pen last year. Still have high hopes for him in that role and now would be the time to do it. Their starter depth is sketchy though with Festa and all, so I understand the reluctance.
  2. C'mon Seth it would be pretty hard to make too much of the next José Altuve!
  3. Age. We all know that is the be all and end all for you. You've told us dozens or is it hundreds of times? In my two short sentences I did manage to mention age so how could I be ignoring it? SMH. The funny part is I added the age disclaimer to my little sentence with you in mind, 😂. What I've learned from my post that included just two short sentences is if you are vague, people may fill in the blanks however they want, 😂 cracks me up. Let me be more clear. I posted Berrios' struggles to simply remind people that they happen. I don't think Festa is anything like Berrios except they both throw baseballs for a living. I have no idea what the future holds for David Festa.
  4. What would I do? Give Festa one more against the ChiSox and reevaluate from there.
  5. Most others? 2? Whatever you want to read into it is your choice. I was providing perspective. Struggles happen. They can be overcome. The rest is your own noise.
  6. Adding a little perspective and interest. I have not stated any opinion. Show me where I explicitly compared Festa to anyone. You make the point anyway by pointing out that Berrios was superior. If someone as pedigreed as Berrios can struggle anyone can.
  7. For those ready to stick a fork in Festa have a gander at Jose Berrios first year starting with the Twins. Yes he was a little younger, but gads.
  8. Yeah I think the only argument against putting Lewis at second is injury risk. With the new rules this is minimized. Lee's arm will prove to be more reliable and accurate than Lewis'.
  9. Seth can a player just walk away from his affiliated team mid-season?
  10. It's obviously too early to say, but I will not be surprised if Lee turns out to be clearly a better defensive 3rd baseman than Lewis. I'm expecting it. Lewis also has not shown he can be relied upon. If Lee performs and stays up in the bigs this is what I would do. 1st. Miranda everyday starter. 2nd. Lewis everyday starter (if available) Julien if not. SS. Carlos everyday. 3rd. Lee everyday. Catcher. Jeffers starter. Left. Larnach mostly against rightys but some leftys. Center. Buxton (if available) Martin if not. Right. Wallner mostly against rightys. DH in rotation. Castro backs up left, center, 3rd, 2nd and SS. Martin backs up the outfield. If Buxton is down Keirsey backs up center. If Lewis is healthy, Julien gets at bats backing up 1st, 2nd and DHing. Backup catcher Vazquez or Carmago if they can somehow unload Vazquez. The 13th man? Kirilloff has a chance, but is limited defensively for this kind of role. Lee and Castro are the primary SS backups. There will be additions.
  11. I would think some people are just more prone to injury than others. I look to boxing where some clearly have a stronger "chin" than others. There are boxers who can stand so much punishment it can be hard to watch. Mohammed Ali is known for great skill, but it was his chin and stamina that were the separators. There really isn't a way to study this I would guess. You can have two boxers go through the exact same training camp and in the end why is it one is more durable and or clearly has better stamina? They are two different organisms. I watch Willi Castro fly around the field and the bases. He plays anywhere you stick him without any problems. When Willi is flying around I enjoy watching. When Buxton or Lewis are flying around I brace myself.
  12. Ha, shot a 45 on the front nine at Lakeview National, after that I lost track.
  13. Young pitcher, young hitter, good times.
  14. It's crazy when you consider Dobnak is guaranteed 10mm, but could easily end up with 30mm if someone picks up those options.
  15. Tom F already has Morris and Zebulon moved up solidly into his top 10 in yesterday's video.
  16. Like the Buxton contract this is a creative deal by the front office. Yes it is only 6 years, but if he keeps playing it can be up to 10 years with the added bonus of rapidly declining salaries in the last 4 years. Great deal for the Twins.
  17. Pretty much what I said there Stringer, lol. With 3 runs and 3 innings against their bullpen you've given yourself a good chance to win. And yes that's a good point beating one of the top starters in MLB this year while starting a guy who wasn't even a top 100 prospect last year, a forgotten man, is good stuff.
  18. That was a good game last night, getting to Skubal and all. Time to forget about Lewis for a while, it's easy if you try.
  19. Morris is in a battle with Zebulon for Twins minor league pitcher of the year.
  20. He can next year. Martin will be there too and I think we have something there too.
  21. This is a good point that gets muted by the amazing Willi Castro. I'd see about extending the young man. When Buxton is rolling there is always someplace you can put Willi.
