  1. Sign him for depth, but it's gotta be cheap. If the guy could just get in better shape I think it would particularly prolong his career. He and Gordon should become roommates. Gordon cooks for Michael for Big Mike for Flash.
  2. Under paid AND humiliated ? I'm craving some Sauerbraten
  3. Schoop was hoping to block Arraez, but your right he just lost his job.
  4. Maybe it would be better if you saw a list for the whole league. I would guess this happens with every team. Player development is more of a crap shoot in MLB than any other sport. Hindsight is 20/20. All teams make minor trades that include young lottery tickets like Gil and some of the Twins prospects you read about were acquired this way. What happens if Baddoo settles in as a 4th outfielder type and Miranda is an all-star? Do we then criticize the Detroit FO for taking the wrong guy? I will agree that there are some fringe vet types on the 40 man at times that I would love to hear the reasoning explained.
  5. It seemed in Ryan's start that he came out firing 93-95, but after a few innings he was sitting 90-92. Not sure if he gets gassed or if I am misinterpreting things.
  6. Thankfully you are not in charge. Look at Happ's track record. Seems like a solid choice for your 4th starter. He just got old this year and that was exactly the risk with him. Signing Shoemaker for your #5 is reasonable. The problem with that is you can't just send him down if he struggles, but I would have had a shorter leash on him and had Randy in AAA starting and ready. His cheap contract is actually perfect for a guy you stash in the minors. He has 3 options left.
  7. That 3rd innings was hard to watch. Things might have been quite different if Sano makes the throw, Gordon plays that double better and it's a single and if Jeffers blocks that slider (it didn't look that difficult). Randy was all over the place there, though. Let's watch him make a few more starts he might surprise the doubters.
  8. Age is just a number. Different people mature differently and encounter different circumstances.
  9. Why is he scheduled to pitch in the 50's? If so a flattop is in order.
  10. It would be a mistake to send Jax down, his future may be the pen but I want to watch him start the rest of the year. Get Ryan up too no one is blocking him. Duran is hurt and Jordy Blaze at best gets a look at AAA this year. And that's all folks unless maybe Winder gets back on the mound this year. Oh yeah there is Dobnak. Realistically nobody else is ready. We should also get a look at relievers Moran and Hamilton. Ober, Barnes, Jax, Ryan and Dobnak are the starters the rest of the year. I can see Ober and Ryan making the rotation out of camp and Moran, Gant and Hamilton the pen. The rest, we will see, maybe Jax in the pen too.
  11. Check this article out. https://twinsdaily.com/index.html/minnesota-twins-news-rumors/kenta-maeda-elbow-second-opinion/
  12. I asked this exact question in the other Maeda elbow thread about why there is uncertainty with elbows but not ACL's. You have completely cleared this for me, thanks. So now when people complain that a team didn't have a player have surgery right away wasting time we know that it was a prudent course of action.
  13. And here is that link. You can click a stat and it will show the rankings for that stat. https://www.fangraphs.com/leaders/minor-league?pos=all&lg=2,4,5,6,7&stats=bat&qual=y&type=0&team=&season=2021&seasonEnd=2021&org=&ind=0&splitTeam=false&players=&sort=23,1
  14. I agree with Roger on Cavaco. He was drafted very young and raw. Last week someone posted on TD exactly what Roger was asking for. I think it was on Fangraphs. AA & AAA leaders.
  15. I do not protect Garlic, Stashak or Smeltzer. Colina is shorter but a bull. He has upside. The other one I'm on the fence with is Dobber. Skeptically that he hasn't turned into a pumpkin. He didn't finish that great last year and more of the same this year. He was jacked around a little. Low ceiling guys, Smeltzer, Stashak and ALBERS have no place on the 40 man.
  16. Not sure having TJ surgery makes Canterino a bust. What is weird to me is that when, say, an ACL needs surgery it always seems pretty obvious that's the way to go, but with an elbow there seems more uncertainty. The result of that can be delaying the inevitable surgery which of course wastes time. Anyone now what this uncertainty is about?
  17. I think Ryan is ready now. When thinking about the rookies Ober, Jax and Ryan let's remember Berrios' first year. It was terrible. I see all three of these guys out performing Berrios' rookie year. This might speak to better pitching development with this FO. Cleveland's guys seem to come up well prepared. It would be sweet if we started seeing the same.
  18. Usually TD reveals where on the positive/negative spectrum posters fall. An article like this can give an entirely different window into who we are sharing this space with. ?
  19. Moran......(echo) I have read here Cano has to work on his control and has many options so maybe not this year.
  20. Here is Larnach's OPS by month this season as an early call up trying to adjust to the bigs; 845, 704, 518, and 879. Looks like a guy who took some big shots and is picking himself up. That's exactly what we want from our prospects.
  21. Thanks for this well thought out article. I've been an obnoxious Falvine Fanboy who's gone strangely quiet this year. Some doubt has crept in. All you have to do is make a list of the arms they have moving up the ranks. I personally have never seen anything like this with the Twins. In the next 2 seasons we will witness many debuts (and struggles). The difference is the odds of a few making a mark is much better when you have this many. Then there's Martin and Lewis and that's no joke. It is hard to be patient especially when they seem to coddle the top prospects and we get to watch the fringe guys. On the other hand we got to see what can happen when guys get moved up ahead of schedule. Celestino and Larnach had some struggles. Celestino had more and he was also the one who was rushed more ahead of schedule. Larnach looks like he is adjusting. I will be surprised if Joe Ryan comes straight over from Tokyo, but he might and if not it will be soon. Keep em coming!
  22. The question I have concerning Alcala's scoreless streak is how many lefties did he retire? Looking at his monthly splits let's just hope he can put an awful July behind him.
  23. Rooker looked good last year in a short stint then got hit. Started slow this year but is picking it up. More time is needed to see what he can do, like the rest of this season. I could see an average DH next season with room to grow. Larnach's confidence is probably low right now but he needs to battle through it. I would not send either down under any circumstance except if Larnach needs a confidence boost. I would, however, bring up Miranda for any Donaldson absences.
  24. Sweet home run call by Bert! Just close your eyes and watch it all play out in your minds eye. Magic
