  1. I get where you coming from, and from an emotional standpoint I can even relate and say you are correct good Sir. However I would argue that "Win/s" for a pitcher aren't stupid or meaningless, but they definitely aren't the be all, end all. I view baseball stats in much the same way I do responding to a call for service or an emergency situation. The first question you ask is "What happened?". That (to me) is things like... basically your box score, BA, RBIs, OPS, Wins (😉🙂) or other surface level stats. They don't tell you the details of what happened, just the big 30,000 foot level picture. To find out the details you have to dive into the underlying situation or metrics, and thus we have the many of the other stats that baseball has such as OBA, WPA, WAR (in all its variants), FIP and such. The important thing (to me) that helps put these various stat categories into perspective, is realizing that no one category tells the whole story. They are all merely pieces to the puzzle.
  2. King Arthur: I am, and this is my trusty servant Patsy. We have ridden the length and breadth of the land in search of knights who will join me in my court at Camelot. I must speak with your lord and master. Guard: What? Ridden on a horse? King Arthur: Yes! Guard: You're using coconuts! King Arthur: What? Guard: You've got two empty halves of coconut and you're bangin' 'em together! King Arthur: So? We have ridden since the snows of winter covered this land, through the kingdom of Mercia, through... Guard: Where'd you get the coconuts? King Arthur: We found them. Guard: Found them? In Mercia?! The coconut's tropical! King Arthur: What do you mean? Guard: Well, this is a temperate zone. King Arthur: The swallow may fly south with the sun or the house martin or the plover may seek warmer climes in winter, yet these are not strangers to our land? Guard: Are you suggesting that coconuts migrate? King Arthur: Not at all. They could be carried. Guard: What? A swallow carrying a coconut? King Arthur: It could grip it by the husk! Guard: It's not a question of where he grips it! It's a simple question of weight ratios! A five ounce bird could not carry a one pound coconut. King Arthur: Well, it doesn't matter. Will you go and tell your master that Arthur from the Court of Camelot is here? Guard: Listen. In order to maintain air-speed velocity, a swallow needs to beat its wings forty-three times every second, right? King Arthur: Please! Guard: Am I right? King Arthur: I'm not interested! [A second guard approaches the parapet] Guard 2: It could be carried by an African swallow! Guard 1: Oh yeah. An African swallow, maybe -- but not a European swallow, that's my point. Guard 2: Oh yeah, I agree with that. King Arthur: [exasperated] Will you ask your master if he wants to join my court at Camelot?! Guard 1: But, of course, African swallows are non-migratory. Guard 2: Oh, yeah. [Arthur begins to depart] Guard 1: ...So they couldn't bring a coconut back anyway.
  3. I wasn't counting on you to come through with this one, but you cashed in at the opportune moment. Huzzah good Sir!
  4. Me too, but hamstrings are a funny (not haha) injury. Push back too soon, and the whole season gets lost.
  5. Have to say that I find my self really rooting for Jarret Whorff. Hasn't been doing to badly, but his name just screams to root for him... if only to spare yourself from the bat'leth strike to the face for disrespecting him. Whorff... son of Mogh (IYKYK 😉)
  6. I was just thinking about that this morning (Jenkins). Park posted the other day that it looks like Lee might miss up to another month (herniated disk), but I've only heard crickets as far as Jenkins goes 🤷‍♂️. @Seth Stohs, have you heard anything Seth??
  7. Totally agree, LOVE IT and have subscribed to it myself the last couple of years now. It's even more awesome now that Low A games are being televised which gives us the chance to watch prospects new to the Twins (I.E. I was watching Ft. Myers the other night when Winokour had a great day at the plate which was super awesome to see).
  8. It's not a local affiliate, but MiLB TV does provide coverage, although I'm not sure if there are any blackout restrictions for for the minors. If not, it's only $29 (I think) for the season and it provides coverage for all minor league affiliates.
  9. Yes 😂! I have an inexplicable hatred of all things White Sox. I have literally no idea why. There are teams I like less (if that's possible 🤷‍♂️🙂) like the Fankees, some Ohio city that I will never speak it's name and I've always liked seeing the Brooklyn castoffs fall flat, but... for some reason... I HATE the Pale Hose. It would be glorious to see them going 3-159 this season 🙂
  10. True, he's 26 and I won't disagree that he might not fit some folk's definition of a "prospect", but that's not entirely all his fault. He's missed quite a bit of time due to injury and the lost 2020 season. Since he's finally been able to stay on the field for an extended amount of time, he's really taken off. Not saying he'll be an all star, but I truly do think he can be a valuable contributor to the big league roster at some point.
  11. What? Did we miss something there or are you just being facetious? If you're being facetious... not cool Dave. Not cool at all 😉.
  12. True. But that is an extreme SSS. Now when that says 113 ABs... AND we have similar numbers, then that's probably the better time to go, yeesh 🙄🤷‍♂️.
  13. Apologies if I made it seem like I thought you were, totally not my intent.
  14. I think you're right overall... just, to call this draft eligible HS class "historically bad" is... well, not gonna lie, that's unfair to them and all the work they put in as well as the sacrifices they make. Seems to me that there was SOOO much hype surrounding last year's crop of HS kids (much of it deserved), that the kids coming up this year are compared unfavorably as a result. Not saying your "wrong" per se, just my two cents. Also... if you get the chance to watch Condon play this season, do so. He's absolutely CRUSHING the ball, and playing some solid defense to boot.
  15. There's rain/storms rolling through the area. Most likely culprit.
  16. While some do seem (very) generous... it's entirely possible for these to occur. Maybe not all at the same time, but still... possible. Hey, it's baseball and weird things happen all the time... it's why I love the game. Ok fine... I'm obsessed with baseball and all it's oddities and imperfections.
