  1. Sano's done it twice now! Nice patience.
  2. It wasn't a great hustle by Sano. But I don't think the Twins have the luxury of benching their best hitter, nor should they for just one baserunning play - IMO.
  3. Does anyone else feel sorry for Buxton? Or are we just angry? I'm unsure how to process this right now.
  4. Doing his thing in the field, nice work Byron! Hughes should take him out to Gibson's Steakhouse tonight after the game.
  5. Unbelievable. Nice catch, though! I think he still gets to bring his glove if he bats 9th, right?
  6. I live in Guatemala. After 3 years it's "home" now. I had a pretty good grasp of Spanish already, and had traveled to almost every country in the region multiple times before moving down here. There are always other expats and locals who will help you out in the beginning - I'd certainly recommend moving abroad if you ever get the inkling. Lots of retirees just love it. I am outside in a short and t-shirt 365 days per year, have a banana tree in the back yard. Cheap prices on just about everything. Good food. Drive an hour to the Pacific Ocean for a beach break, or take a short cheap flight to Costa Rica, Mexico, Colombia etc when you need to renew your travel Visa.
  7. Where are you from: Born and raised in southwest Minneapolis. Lived and worked in Chicago for about 15 years after college. I got a new career working 100% online, so I moved to Central America a few years ago and now live in the Sierra Madre de Chiapas mountain range. Watch every Twins game on MLB.TV, and during commercial breaks I watch a volcano shoot fire and brimstone out the window. What is your age: 40-45 Favorite Twins Memories: 1987 and 1991 World Series Championships. I was lucky enough to attend Game 7 in 1991! Who have some of your favorite players been? Puckett, of course. Al Newman, Junior Ortiz, Torii Hunter, Johan Santana, Frankie Liriano, Jaque Jones, Justin Morneau. How long have you been reading Twins Daily: New to the site this year. Used to comment on the Reddit thread but found it too snarky. What brings you back to Twins Daily? How often do you stop by the site? Daily.
  8. Santana also made a nice catch in the 1st inning at the wall, that's gotta count for something.
  9. Twins pen is bending but not breaking...would be nice to see a little more 7th inning magic!
  10. Santana got a nice hit earlier today. Awful execution on his bunt attempt late, but he's not killing this team the way Buxton is at the plate so far.
  11. Buxton's first series has been an absolute disaster, offensively. You know it's awful when you're hoping they pinch-hit for your 3 hitter. At this point he's not just an automatic out, he's an automatic strikeout. I was that kid in high school, it's a mental issue (and in my case a talent issue, too). The Twins have just got to find a way to hide his bat in this lineup somehow.
  12. Glad to see Buxton get a hit - even if it was a weak grounder he legged out. That was the most gratifying moment in the final 2 innings for me. Great win! The Royals keep giving 'em away, let's take another tomorrow, why not?
  13. He just struck out again here in the 7th on 3 pitches.
  14. Really scary start to the year if you're a Buxton fan. Pretty much the worst possible first 7 ABs the kid could have.
  15. Ugh, Buxton with a strikeout. This looks real familiar. Why bat him 3rd again? The guy flourished last year in the 9th spot, move 'em back. Sorry to be a downer.
  16. Sitting Polanco on Day 2? Just awful. You put in your utility guys on Sundays. I don't see any reason to dust off Escobar just yet - as much as I like his character, I really don't understand sitting your new everyday SS on the 2nd game of the year after an off day.
  17. I don't think the new brass is setting up Molly to fail. I think Molly's been failing on his own for 2 years now, and doesn't need any help in that regard. When the Twins announced sweeping changes in management last year, I was thrilled. When Pohlad added "oh yeah, you've got to keep Molitor"....I was dumbfounded. I don't think Molitor has what it takes to manage a team of young talent. He'd be a decent choice to manage Team USA in the WBC or something, but aside from that I don't see a role for him anywhere in MLB. Torii Hunter, on the other hand, would be a great choice. I'd love to see the Twins put him in the minors for a year or two to sharpen his skills, and then move him into the dugout. Molitor has the personality of a box of Triscuits, which isn't good on a team with no clearcut leadership.
  18. Fantastic work by Santana. Sano with the bomb! Polanco, doing his thing on offense and making the defensive plays he needed to. Jorge's bat is going to become too valuable to put in the 7th spot and maybe he'll switch with Buxton by the end of April. The Twins didn't pound the crap out of the ball - but they took what the Royals gave them. A win's a win and like most of you, I'll happily take it!
  19. Polanco and Sano handle their first 2 fielding chances! Woohoo! Let's see if the Twins can get through an offensive half-inning without any strikeouts here.
  20. Don't forget all of those outfield assists. This kid has one of the best arms in the majors and it'll be fun to watch him cut down runners all over the infield this season.
  21. I think the Twins finish April with a 9-16 record. Molitor gets fired by June 1.
  22. I drafted him as well. Way too high, according to CBS Sports, LOL. I'm optimistic on Bux and can't wait to see him play this season.
  23. I have to disagree with a lot of the commenters here - I don't share the optimism on Kepler. I'm questioning why a guy who hit .235 last year in 400 ABs belongs in the conversation among the team's best players. He hit .151 this spring in 53 ABs. I think he belongs at the bottom of the lineup right now. Sorry to be a downer, but I can't put all my eggs in one 3 HR-game basket.
  24. What a slap in the face for Park. What this tells me is that Favine must think pretty very, very, VERY highly of Grossman. Guess we'll see.
