  1. Love that the appreciation for Jeffer's game and work ethic are coming through. I do like Rortvedt, but I agree completely with Seth. Jeffer's game has such a higher ceiling than Ben's. ...however. This? What rdehring states? This scares me. Don't know how I haven't looked at it from this perspective yet. How lazy are our catchers going to get with no one on base? It's going to be gross how they accept a ball. Will past balls increase or decrease? Not liking that aspect of "robo umps".
  2. Blows me away that O'Halloran is all, "...wait wait wait wait wait wait wait. You're telling me this guy had arm issues previous to this year? You're telling me he's only thrown over 100 innings once in his career? Why didn't I know this? Are we the first to hear about this?" Did Boston discover that Brusdar needs labrum, Tommy John, and wrist surgery all at once? Seriously, what's going on here? If we end up with Brusdar when this is said and done, I'm happy. But Boston is coming off rather arrogant & ignorant. Two qualities everyone loves.
  3. The feeling is strong that we're going to greatly regret this trade.
  4. I would think it's impatience of needing quality pitching now and not being able to wait for Graterol's stuff mixed with the going rate for a #3-#4 pitcher, sprinkled with confidence in Balazovic and Duran. My trust is in the FO, but sure hope they offered Duran before they offered Graterol. I really would love to see Graterol reach his potential in 2 years on the starting staff of the Sox at Fenway. I'm saddened we had to send him packing. I was really looking forward to him dominating the AL Central for years to come.
  5. I am gladly eating crow at the moment.
  6. One thing jumped out at me during press conference. He mentioned that when talks began, he told his agent to tell the Twins that he wanted to be here. So with that said, did we have this deal on the table for quite some time? If we did, what was the hold up. Also, I liked your question Jon. Secondly, I got uncomfortable watching it when his number came up. I got a kick out of that.
  7. I want Rosario to do great. He does great, we do great. However, I’d love to see Kirilloff or Larnach come up and force the issue. See if one of them can somehow outplay and leave Rosario Arraez’d out of left field. All while maintaining Rosario’s trade value. That’d be too perfect. I like Raley, Blank, and Rooker, but not as much as the formers.
  8. Anybody catch Donaldson's SI interview while he was on the golf course. He seemed the opposite of excited when asked about his signing with us. Just how I read the situation I guess. Although I'd hate to be bothered at a charity event as well.
  9. Show me a season where Buxton stays healthy, and I'll maybe...maybe believe that Arraez isn't capable of maintaining a +.300 average. I just want Arraez to do what he's been doing all his career. Hitting and playing very serviceable defense. And I want Buxton to do what he's been projected to do all his career, which is play unparalleled defense and have game changing speed on the bases with some pop in the bat...ALL. SEASON. LONG. Too much to ask?
  10. So what kind of bonus is this kid talking about? Is it going to be on the lines of Ohtani or more like Moncada or Robert (both of whom playing for our rival Sox)? Not sure. Can anyone explain again why Ohtani had to sign with a bonus of "only" $2.3 million, but Moncada signs with a bonus of $31.5 million? Robert signed a bonus of $26 million. What sets them apart again? I can't remember.
  11. Everything that you mentioned here is quite valid, and I did recognize some of it. I wasn't ever able to see him throw live. I knew his fastball was slower than average. I just thought he'd be a guy who could rely on placement if he had enough movement. I really would love to see him take a spot with the Mets and hold it. Thanks!
  12. Great list. I'd like to see Kirilloff make his debut at some point too, but right off the bat, I'm hesitant. Just don't want things to be too big for him. One full season of baseball under his belt, a great one at that, and only half of a half season at first base? Let him see some more reps. Man, I'd love to see his bat come into play with this lineup though. I was going to mention how we just wrote off Stephen Gonsalves. I didn't like that in the least. He only pitched 24 innings at the pro-level and we've banished him. We didn't let him take his lumps, cut his teeth, none of it. Just released him at the age of 25. Why would we do that? I thought the same thing about Chargois. Just let him go. Why?...I'm a passionate fan, not an employed analyst.
  13. Agreed on the disappointing off-season. Tend to disagree/agree on the "We are trying to save money". Look at the past few off-season big named free agents. Bottom line, The money we offered was extremely comparable, if not matched what these FA's got, even less in some cases (Bumgarner). So when it comes down to it, they DID NOT WANT TO COME HERE. That's the free agent culture this organization needs to change. In the past few years, the people we've acquired in free agency have made some great impacts, especially Cruz, but they were all maybe 2nd tier, 3rd tier, and 4th tier free agents at the time they signed. So if you're talking Cole, Harper, Machado, Strasburg $$$, yeah, we won't go there. However, we signed Mauer & Morneau at their primes. 8-years at $184 million (that was a large contract in 2010-11 when he signed). We got a deal on Morneau for 6-years at $80 million. You could argue they were every bit as good as Machado and Harper at that time. Mauer had just come off a 28 HR season in 2009.
  14. The part w/Graterol starting until Hill is ready to go is exactly what I thought when I heard of the signing. Hill’s numbers are fantastic, but money invested in a guy who is 40 AND isn’t ready until mid-season for a forearm injury? $3 million ain’t what it used to be. Also, sign Donaldson already or let him go back to the Braves. I feel as if anyone showing interest in us and hasn’t signed yet is being that nice person who can’t just tell us no.
  15. I’m bored and underwhelmed. I understand we’re not a top free agent destination, but when will that EVER change?!?! With that said, I’m extremely excited about our pitching crop coming up. It’s healthy in numbers and healthy on the stat sheet. Just would be nice if when they cut their teeth, they do so while making a positive impact.
  16. I've been nervous of this since '16 & '17 when they acquired Moncada, Kopech, Basabe, Giolito, Lopez, Dunning, Jimenez, Rutherford, etc. And that's just off the top of head. They went out and completely flipped Eaton, Sale, Quintana, and Frazier for solid prospects. These are just the highlights from those deals too. On top of all of this, they're acquiring veterans...Plus Luis Robert. I'm taking the ChiSox seriously. It might not be this year, but it'll be soon. Our window is not as large as we're all thinking.
  17. Agree to disagree on Cease. He's got too much ahead to say he's not good. However, I agree completely on Giolito. Goose laid a golden egg. Question marks? Yes, but count them out of it? No. I'd love for this to be the early 00's where we have little resistance, but it's not. Cleveland is clearly backing down, and Chicago is clearly amping up. We're still better, but we need to prove it.
  18. Forgot to mention Dylan Cease. He'll be a contender too after he takes his lumps. Also, there's a guy named Dane Dunning. He'll probably strike a lot of our guys out eventually. Go Twins.
  19. This rotation is stacked with 1st rounders. Giolito - Tough to replicate this past season, but he straight Gerrit Cole'd his K rate. Very impressive. Kopech - Fresh of Tommy John. Key word 'fresh'. Take that either way. Kid can hit 105mph. He'll throw a walk every 2 innings, but if Nuke LaLoosh could figure it out, this guy just may. He's come a long way since he was a gangly high schooler. Rodon - Young w/lots of upside, yet plenty of downside. Fulmer - ...I'm out. HOWEVER...WE COULDN'T COME CLOSE TO A 3 YEAR-$55 MILLION DEAL FOR DALLAS FREAKIN' KEUCHEL?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!? I'm not his biggest fan in the world, but $55 million over 3 years? What the F? Again, I say, I want to be a mouse in the room when Falvey and Lavine are discussing this team's issues. I understand he hasn't really put together a 200+ inning season, but man. I'd gamble owner's money for that price.
  20. I love this take. Also, the more people try to dissect a swing, a pitch, a throw, fielding ability, not being able to play a position, spin rate, etc., the less interested I get in reading about it. Not saying they're wrong, but it's not what I love about the sport. Apparently, I just know less about baseball. Regardless, Lewis is a tremendous prospect. He is also a prospect who knows a .236 average isn't going to cut it. The kid's not the type to take an "off-season" off. He's going to work on his craft and do whatever it takes to help his swing. I'm excited to see him excel again.
  21. ...did someone say Pache? Wow. Did we just become best friends? That Atlanta outfield is crowded. I like the cuttuh yer jib.
  22. Dobnak was thrusted through the minors last year to make his debut in The Show. Deservedly so. What bothers me is that because of his start vs. the Yanks in the playoffs, he gets a bad rap? Seriously? He was PHENOMENAL as a rookie. Then to be on the Twins' largest stage since 2010? Cut the kid some slack. He's a gamer. He's made it to the bigs in a very unconventional, yet deserving way. If you think he's not worth a damn because of that one playoff start against the Bronx Bombers, you're ignorant as hell. Great article. Wow.
  23. Concur. Nothing terribly special. Some young guys with some upside. Are they worth the return?
