Front Page: The Future Value of Luis Arraez
jrod23 replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Right now the collective bargaining agreement heavily favors the owners. It MIGHT be responsible of us to actually lock him up this year. The next CBO could get younger players comped sooner. -
Front Page: The Future Value of Luis Arraez

This sums it up. I've thought this in the depths of my feeble baseball mind for the past 4 years, but he's about as "can't miss" as they come. -
Front Page: The Future Value of Luis Arraez
jrod23 replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
My advice for any and all people, is JUST ENJOY IT!!! What we're seeing with Arraez is simply amazing. Don't let stats that support his faults cause you to think he's insufficient at 2B. He's fearless. There's no stat for that. He's unorthodox. No stat for that. He's who I want to see up when we have runners on second and third. No stat for that. He's who I want up to start an inning when we need a runner on in the 9th. No stat for that. Has he failed? Yes, but far less than many. He gets the job and excels at it. Throw your numbers that oppose him out the window, and just let this kid play. -
Front Page: Twins 2019 Minor League Hitter of the Year
jrod23 replied to Seth Stohs's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Ted. I'm not doubting because I'm not a writer, but I'm just curious. I'd love to hear your write-up per player there. This list is about right though. Would love to see Blank get more love. He seems to really have matured and figured some things out. Let's keep feeding him some consistency. Jeffers, I don't think I'd say he was a steal, but I'd say he could turn out to be a reach that really paid off. Regardless, I'm excited to see the Twins come October, but I'm sad to see the MiLB season end. Thanks guys for all the the work you do to get us MiLB rubes some Twins reading material.- 31 replies

Front Page: Leading Off Podcast: Alex Kirilloff Time?
jrod23 replied to Cooper Carlson's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I have to fully agree with you here. The Twins will probably take the approach Spycake mentioned, but I get greedy. I'm not a fan of bringing in AAAA players who have a higher floor. And again, for the record, I CANNOT STAND the term "years of of player control". If a player proves to be of worth on a major league roster, give it to him. Kirilloff could easily take the spot on the 40 man. Get him up here while we got guys who need rest. Give him a taste, if he hits, we keep him on. If he tanks, we don't. Kirilloff's numbers haven't been absolutely lights out, but he's earned it. However, we all thought Buxton was "can't miss". Kubel was dominant in his minors tenure. Same as Oswaldo. There's just something about Kirilloff that reminds me of Mauer w/Morneau power.- 22 replies

Front Page: Leading Off Podcast: Alex Kirilloff Time?
jrod23 replied to Cooper Carlson's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
You're too logical Spycake. In all honesty, your take is probably the correct take in every sense. It's conservative, and it's because we have such a potent offense already in place. When Kepler got the complimentary call up from Chattanooga in '15, it was because we had some give. I just wish it wasn't so far fetched because the kid is a real talent and deserves a call-up.- 22 replies

jrod23 replied to Cooper Carlson's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I see no losing in calling him up. Why not put him on a roster that wins to give him that playoff experience. His bat is undeniable. It’s Mauer-like, but with power. Just give him a jersey.- 22 replies

Also, it's peanuts, and I know pitching isn't really a weakness in Pensacola, but why doesn't Balazovic get a crack at AA? We just gonna say, "great job" and send him back to Canada? He's earned it. At least wear the jersey and get some AA feels.

Whenever I think about our AA and AAA outfield first rounders, I just start to thinking, how do we keep them all? Kirilloff, Larnach, Rooker. One of the 3 can move to first, maybe. However, we have Cron & Sano there. With our outfielders in The Show right now, it just wreaks of letting guys sit in AAA. I'm glad we gave Jaylin Davis (24th rounder) an opportunity w/SanFran. Maybe the trade market will favor us a bit more next year.

I want help. Pitching needs help. Francisco Liriano and Graterol are two different pitchers, but could have one thing in common; getting promoted straight from AA. I’m sick of baseball politics. Come the back end of the season, I want the best players to help you win on the field at all times. I don’t care about years of team control. I want to win. Especially with this offense that baseball hasn’t ever seen before. Rooker (when healthy), Kirilloff, Thorpe, Smeltz (keep using him), etc. Let’s go!!!

Well done Elizabethton. For the record, Big Dave would've had that leak taken care of in 60 seconds, and back bending your ear for the remainder of the inning.

Dobnak is going to force his way onto the 40-man. Love seeing this, being he wasn’t even drafted. I really have been pulling for Watson. Can we just move him to the pen already? Give him a fresh start there?

Article: Is Alex Kirilloff Expendable?
jrod23 replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
1. Kirilloff 1a. Larnach 2. Rooker 2a. Jaylin Davis Take a 1. & take a 2, then throw in Graterol and AAA pitcher. You’d think that would be enough.- 31 replies

Article: Let's Make A Deal, Part IV: The Sellers
jrod23 replied to Jeremy Nygaard's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Could you imagine having Falvey’s power? Really. Just sitting at home thinking, “Do we pay up for Syndergaard and give up Lewis et al, or give up less for Robbie Ray? Do we go all in on Smith or do we piece together the bullpen?” -
Balazovic profiles better. Besides Graterol's drive of wanting to be like Berrios, it seems he's heading down Fernando Romero's road. Balazovic will be a front line starter. We can't give in with him. It is now: Untouchable = Lewis, Kirilloff, Balazovic

What I was eluding to was us signing Fernando Rodney to a $4.5 million deal, then trading him away for a low-A guy who has struggled with injuries. Chalmers has a great K ratio, but it's reflective of only one year in Beloit. When a team is considered a seller, we sell short sometimes. With the 40-man, I was talking about how Rooker is not on it. I want guys who deserve a shot to get it. Not stay where they are because of technicalities. If Rooker's hot, use him. Especially with our depleted outfield/1B.

When it comes to guys like Chalmers, who we got for Rodney, I feel like it's dropping millions of dollars down a wishing well. Getting in return nothing but a wish/hope/roll of dice of someone doing well at a low-level of the minors, and continuing that success every year for 3-5 years. Kind of a joke, but it is what it is. Secondly, I'm really struggling with the "years of player control/40-man roster" stuff here. Rooker deserves a shot. However, he's not on the 40-man, so he's going to stay in AAA and continue to "polish up". I know he's not going anywhere, and I really like our other options who ARE on the 40-man, but Rooker is the one pressing the issue. The only one I could see getting the boot is Ryan Eades, but we can't afford that...so I guess I've talked myself into a box...

Article: Handing Out Minnesota's First Half Awards
jrod23 replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
What he said. Love to see mah boy Arraez get some credit. Blows me away at how under the radar someone can be just because they didn't sign a multi-million dollar bonus or was drafted in the early rounds. The kid's for real and barely got credit until he debuted.- 13 replies

Article: 2019 Twins Midseason Top Prospect List: 6-10
jrod23 replied to Tom Froemming's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Man was it frustrating listening to SKOR North talk to an ESPN analyst about trade targets, and NO ONE knew how to pronounce Balazovic. Balazovic is going to be sought after. I'd rather trade Brusdar than Balazovic. Balazovic just profiles better as a long term mainstay in the rotation vs. Graterol. That strikeout rate is punishing. Plus his control is phenomenal. He did give up like 2-3 bombs to G. Stanton during a rehab stint, but I'm sure he learned from that. Lastly, again, where is Landon Leach? Two years years in the GCL? Injury plagued? I know he doesn't belong on any of these lists, I'm just curious. -

Listening to WCCO yesterday I heard Rocco say, "Arraez is a young guy in reference to how long he's been on this Earth, but he's..." So I hear you. He clearly was sitting behind Nuke LaLoosh when when Crash Davis gave him the one-liners.- 51 replies
