  1. I would do this, but only if it includes adding a few other pieces.
  2. Not on Baseball Reference, but going on that, Isn't Buxton a superstar? According to Baseball Reference Buxton's 2017 is higher than Hicks 2018.
  3. He went to the Yanks in 2016 and was terrible, in 2017 he played all of 88 games, last year he managed to play 137 and was really, really good. But I am not ready to call him a super star. And lets be honest most wanted him gone in 2015 and if he would have played the same for the Twins 2016 as he did the Yanks, we would have been screaming for him to be gone.
  4. I think Jacob deGrom should win the Cy Young. As for MVP I am all for a pitcher, but it comes down to how you define valuable, and IMO starting pitcher on a 77 win team that averages less than 7 innings should not win the MVP.
  5. honest question, do you do this in the majors only, or also in the minors?
  6. I was just pointing out Houston's payroll the last 6 years, nothing more, nothing less.
  7. Houston Payroll 2018 - $160.04M 2017 - $124,343,900 2016 - $69,064,200 2015 - $70,910,100 2014 - $44,544,174 2013 - $22,062,600
  8. Doc, you said and typed up what I was trying to say. You did a way better job!
  9. I think people are missing my point. My point is continuing to say the Twins need to tear down and rebuild and wait for the next group of prospects to be better than the best teams is foolish. The current group is one of the best group of prospects the Twins have ever had, the next group looks good, but to think they are guaranteed to turn out let alone be better than the current group is crazy. So my point is get better players though FA and trading some of the prospects and try to win.
  10. I am not the one saying to quit, I am one saying the time is now with the current "prospect" guys we have and add to them with FA and supplement with prospects and trading prospects, because quitting on this group and hoping and praying the next group is going even our talent with the best teams is a fools errand.
  11. I am not sure why we think the next set of prospects are going to turn out better than the current ones in the majors.
  12. and in 2018 they won 7 less games, and got nothing from Sano, Buxton, Castro and Santana.
  13. I don't buy it. Red Sox (Benintendi, Devers, Rodriguez) Astros (Alex Bregman, Carlos Correa) Yanks ( Luis Severino, Gary Sanchez,Miguel Andujar) The guys over 25 on those team have more talent, sure. If the only option for the Twins is to have the most talent, well then it is time to shut the team down, because that isn't going to happen for multiple reasons. First the top Free Agents don't want to be here and second the ownership is un-willing to pay for the top talent.
  14. Tom you said "I’m more curious if it ever truly started in the first place" I have to say, Kepler, Roasario, Polanco, Buxton, Sano, Berrios, and a bunch of relief pitchers was the rebuild. That is the whole outfield, half the infield, and at top end rotation starter. All under the age of 25, they brought in FA veterans to fill the other spots and had a couple of guys ready to go in the minors. Sano, Buxton, Gordon,Morrison and Romero (not grabbing hold of a rotation spot) sucking is the reason the Twins were terrible last year. If the Twins FO think Sano, Buxton and Gordon are never going to get it, I am for what tearing it down, but really tearing it down, getting rid of everybody, But if they have faith in those 3, I say go out and get some veteran Free agents and letting these guys have a shot. If they fail again, they aren't hurting 2020.
  15. The Twins are only a long ways away if Buxton and Sano are similar to 2018. If they are at their best, you have positive WAR coming back at every position but 1B and 2B, Three above average starters and possibly 5 with Pineda, Romero, Meija. So bringing in some bullpen arms and getting good players for 1B and 2B or 3B if Sano moves and they are in the hunt as early as next year. Now if Buxton and Sano tank again, it will be a long, long year.
  16. i Agree too many short starts, but I was surprised he was 26th in innings pitched in the AL. The Twins had 3 pitchers in the top 26, that is above average.
  17. Trading prospects for a proven commodity, can't do that, what happens if you the prospect you trades turns into a star? or signing a 31 year old that averages a WAR of over 4 for six years, can't do that because he is too old. Imagine how up in arms people would have been if the Twins traded Romero, Kepler and say Wade for Yelich last year?
  18. I like that thinking, wish Gordon and Gonzo would have done the same this year.
  19. I watched a few innings last night, and a lot of his balls were right out the side the box, so maybe his command isn't that far off?
  20. While I am against the opener, if Stewart can keep up this up, I wouldn't be against having him being the 5th starter next year doing this.

    Bullpen BS

A relief pitcher for a starting OF, no thanks.
  22. Maybe the old FO was just way ahead of the game, drafting all the relief pitchers and trying to make them starters, there problem was they didn't realize they only needed them to pitch the first inning of the game.
  23. I think the #1 thing that needs to be accomplished this off season is does FO think that 2019 is even worth trying or is it just another lost year.
  24. "Any arm brought in should be at the quality of Gibson and Odorizzi or better." You mean like Lance Lynn?
