  1. Hey looked great. The question I have is did the Twins wait too long to promote, or was it perfect timing? IMO if he can come in and do this in the majors, they waited too long, but we won't really know until he gets a few more starts under his belt.
  2. Julio Urias, Clayton Kershaw, Mike Soroka, Dylan Bundy, Rick Porcello come to mind. I am sure there are more. So 2021 will be 7th year with the organization and he will be 22. I just don't understand wasting guys with arms like his in the minors.
  3. So a guy that throws in the upper 90s and hasn't had an issue with control needs to spend 6-7 years in the minors. He has already had Tommy John and this will be his first full year back if he can get to AA this year there should be no reason he can't pitch in the majors at 20. The reports are he has a plus slider, with that and his fastball he should be able to work on his curve and change in the majors and successful. (I reserve the right to change my mind if he struggles this year getting guys out in the low minors) The average starter in the majors only pitches a little bit over 5 innings anyway,
  4. If Graterol continues to pitch this well the rest of the year and moves up a few levels, I don't understand why he couldn't be ready sometime next year.
  5. Well there has been talk of him not letting his starters work out of some jams and getting an inning or two more out of them so can we complain when it back fires? I will say the last few starts he has given his starters a chance to work out of some jams and it has worked, (Gibson and Romero for example)
  6. 56 pitchers after 3, with 1 hit and 2 walks, looks like 5 innings will be his max
  7. So based on that, the bullpen better be ready around the 3 or 4th inning. Hopefully he comes into the club house singing, "here I am to save the day" and follows though with 6 or 7 good innings.
  8. I was surprised he let Gibson finish the 5th, so I knew there was no chance of him coming out for the 6th. I would have him come out for the 6th, but Molitor knew if anybody gets on base he will pull him so let a Relief Pitcher start the inning. Basically they don't let a starter, star a new inning if they have over 90 pitchers, and they wonder why the bullpen is terrible.
  9. Isn't that what everybody was saying during the off season? As bad as the Twins have been, I think it is a bit earlier to go into tank/trade mode. IMO while you can always use top prospects in the low minors, that isn't really a weak spot of the Twins right now, it is prospects that are ready to contribute. If the Twins start trading for low minor prospects they might as well look into trading Sano, Buxton, Kepler and Rosario because by the time the new guys are ready to contribute these four will be free agents.
  10. I am usually the pessimist, so I will try to be the optimist today. The twins are 9 - 14 and the closer has three blown saves, if he only blows one the twins are 11-12. Lynn can't be this bad going forward, I have to assume this is his worst 4 games ever? At some point they Hughes will be gone. Sano, Buxton, Castro, Grossman and Morrison can't continue to hit at or under .213. And if they can get a little bit more out of the starters the bullpen will get straightened out. You can't continue to ask them to pitch a minimum 3 innings every night and most 4 to 5. And if these things don't happen, we should get to see Gonzo, Romero, Gordon and Wade this summer. I will add the front office loaded a team that seems unwilling or unable to take a walk. Buxton, Rosario and Sano have a combined 14, Sano should have more than that by himself.
  11. I would probably give you that except for the fact he has blown 3 saves out of 5. I also don't believe any 3B or SS make that play on Stanton with were they were playing (deep).
  12. I will give you the first one, but Stanton infield hit wasn't an out. and the next guy hit a homer, so it is a huge stretch to say he pitched well. Those saying the pitch was way inside, they are wrong it was straight and barely inside.
  13. For starters get an out, then give up less than two runs in one inning of work.
  14. I was hoping he would come up and start to hit and make it hard for him not to be the starter, but the more I see him, the more I think he would be lucky to have Chris Gimenez career. (I hope I am wrong)
  15. Cobb hasn't been any better, might explain why nobody wanted to give either big money?
  16. Stan and Sanchez only need another home run and I am up $5.
  17. 91 pitches in 5 innings in AA might also be the issue? or 4 games and 20.1 innings. I really like Gonzo, but the big league club doesn't need another guy 5 inning guy right now.
  18. Lets just say I have $5 with a friend saying that Judge, Didi, Stanton and Sanchez will be in the top 10 in the American league in homers after this series.
  19. My real question is, if the Twins would have gotten to a world series with Prior, would that been enough to say Prior was the right pick? For me the answer to that is yes, but Mauer still has that chance, but that is what it would to change my mind. I would say the same about Teixeira if they would have gotten to the world series with him, it would have been a better pick.
  20. When talking about Mauer should the discussion also include pitches per appearance? Without looking up all the years he seems to be to in the top of even in his off years. In the current state of baseball getting pitch counts up is almost as important as scoring a run or two early in the game.
  21. Seth you are correct, my father in-law is really good friends with his dad and that is how he pronounces it. Of you course you have to throw in a little Louisianan/cajun slang into it.
  22. Lynn, Berrios, Gibson win 12+ games. Romero ends the season as the closer. Buxton top 5 MVP. Mauer hits over .300 Twins win 91 games. Morrison hits a homer off the top of the flag pole to win a game.
  23. I was just asking if you wanted to trade Gibson a couple of years ago and he was a good pitcher then (at least by WAR), is it time to trade May since he is 28 and hasn't really done anything in the Majors?
  24. Going on that logic is it time to trade May? Not defending Gibson, but at 28 he was coming off two 2.0+ WARs. May is 28 and has career .2 WAR (Baseball Reference)
