  1. If the hold up is truly due to the Twins wanting another useful MLB-ready piece like Brock Stewart but the Dodgers are unwilling to do so, I wonder if a guy like Pedro Baez would be a compromise. He's a BP guy for sure, but looks pretty legit and might even be the Twins closer from the get go. Or maybe the Dodgers already think Baez is more valuable than a guy like Stewart anyway and he's also a deal breaker.
  2. He also appeared to make that guitar disappear, or at least defy gravity. Two things I wouldn't have put past Prince. That was an awesome performance.
  3. Legit prospects can't be lottery tickets? Alvarez has great potential, but his likelihood of being a bust is so much greater than every other player discussed, he's a cross your fingers and pray kind of guy if one ever existed. Alvarez and Bellinger are completely different kinds of prospects but for some reason continue to be lumped together in this thread.
  4. Haven't u herd? This is the age of the 'net, no 1's gotta rite good no more. s'all about the Tweets and emojis .
  5. Then I'll just have to hope the Dodgers are still into "sexy" moves like they are most years. Sexy figuratively of course. Dozier is going to be a bigger sell to fans and likely the players if the team wants to save face by making moves while still trying to shed payroll. Ok, sexy literally too. Damn that Dozier hair.....
  6. And if the Dodgers truly are trying to keep payroll down, Robertson's $25M owed the next two years is pretty hefty. Easy solution, Twins toss in Brandon Kintzler . As a fallback, that Pedro Baez they have in their pen looks like closer material. I wouldn't be surprised if he gets a shot.
  7. This isn't Jeopardy!, the correct answer is simply "You all have checked MLBTR all the time, forever."
  8. My house was built in 1963. All I found in the studs was an old rifle and some gibberish manifesto signed by a couple of guys going by LBJ and F. Castro.
  9. Yeah, he would be cream of the free agent crop. Clearly though the White Sox also saw the market deficiency moving Sale and shopping Quintana. Maybe it will pick up once/if Quintana is dealt and if the Rays end up dealing any of their arms. I'd like to see the Twins start offering him as a (slightly) more affordable option in terms of prospects to those pitchers.
  10. Still waiting for the PTBNL for Arica. Hey, maybe Arcia will be the PTBNL here! SD still has his rights don't they?
  11. Fingers crossed, with guilt. I don't want to cheer against a player fulfilling his expectations but geez, does it have to be the White Sox? Similar guilt tinged hope against Moncada and Kopich.
  12. The Twins got a PTBNL for Diaz per La Velle (can't copy tweets from work). I wonder if it will be conditioned on whether SD keeps the guy or not.
  13. So San Diego not only traded for Diaz, the first pick but for Luis Torrens the 2nd pick; they also personally had the 3rd pick. All of these guys were in A ball or rookie leagues last years, I am extremely curious about their end-game. Surely they can't carry all three, they didn't figure out a genius loophole in the process did they?
  14. Thanks goulik. See the Rule V draft thread for more details: http://twinsdaily.com/topic/24466-article-rule-5-results-twins-take-miguel-diaz-likely-to-trade/
  15. If it's the first one we're going to have riots here. *****Moderator Warning****** If it's the first one, do not riot here, do it in the streets.
  16. Typically if you have the number 1 pick and trade down to the number 10 pick there is additional compensation. There sure better be here, I just checked Haley's stats and yawned. Maybe he'll miss some bats with a move to the pen.
  17. The Reds took two position players. I'd guess the odds that Stuart is back with the Twins is probably quite a bit higher than 50%.
  18. BA sure nailed their list, did they only get Tyler Webb right? http://www.baseballamerica.com/minors/2016-rule-5-draft-preview/#gvmRjzIH6ZOrlgI0.97 Diaz looks pretty interesting, but if the Twins can move him for someone who doesn't require a 40-man spot that sounds good too.
  19. So the first four picks played in A ball last year. Well except for Allen Cordoba who only played in the rookie leagues. Well, I guess the Rule V has just taken a dramatic turn!
  20. I agree, I'm getting that feeling also. On the other hand I was thinking the White Sox must have thought the same which is why they chose the Red Sox deal and here they are going right back to the Nationals and getting him for Eaton, who upon closer inspection does have a really nice contract and record of consistency. Probably a lot better player than most people would give him credit for. Still, I'm really jealous of the White Sox right now.
  21. The White Sox are about to get Lucas Giolito and others for Adam Eaton. I so hate the White Sox. On the bright side, the Sox got Eaton by trading Hector Santiago and a PTBNL. Surely the Twins can trade Santiago and a PTBNL for a similar return.
  22. I like the Davis choice, Ryan Raburn was my righty platoon choice last year and I still like him. A .835 OPS against lefties last year and that's in line with the rest of his career.
  23. Dave, good luck to you sir. May your knowledge be thick and your skin thicker if it is not.
  24. Yeah, that's just insane. For one thing, they must have stopped watching baseball about the same time they were mathematically eliminated last year, that being the middle of July, because he was awful after that point just as he was at the end of his career in Washington. For another, Colorado should know by now that a hunchback with tuberculosis holding a broom handle can put up an .800 OPS in Coors Field. Why not just pay Brandon Moss a fraction of what you just gave Desmond to do practically the same thing?
