If you need these guys to play, then you aren't playing for anything meaningful in 2025 anyway. I just don't understand the point unless the point is to put on a façade of activity.- 65 replies

I would venture to guess that the #2 prospect in baseball rarely turns out to be as good as Bob Allison. Allison, who was one of the best players in the game, broke his wrist twice and would have been in the HOF had he been able to stay healthy and play longer. Which seems irrelevant in Jenkins' case, because if his first seven years in a Twins uniform are as good as Allison's first seven, Jenkins will be wearing a different uniform come year 8 at the latest.

Right, but you said Bobby Allison and Bobby Bonds would be disappointing while I pointed out that your dismay over the 124 career OPS was better than the fantastic 2019 season from Max Kepler, so I'm asking why?

I fail to see how Jenkins having the type of career either had as 'disappointing'. Or a 15 year career with a 124 OPS. That's better than a whole career of 2019 Max Kepler.

I'd be torn for sure. I do think Darnold can be even better in year two, but I don't want to pay QB money either. This team can't develop cornerbacks or interior OL and I think if they want to continue to play well, they need to put their free agent dollars there. Still, as good as he has been, I don't know that he's a guy who can carry them to the top of the mountain. Maybe I'm wrong.

Sounds like a token you'd get to use in a baseball video game. It sounds pointless. Any team that now isn't using their best pinch hitter in the most critical spots because they're worried about a defensive downgrade the following inning isn't thinking big picture anyway; they deserve to lose. Also, what a bunch of hooey. Let's think about who this will benefit the most; the big budget teams who can afford to roster the deepest offensive rosters.

Happened with all the great kickers. Vinatieri, Morten Andersen and Gary Anderson. Epic start to their career but at some point they hit a wall. They all recovered but with another team. A fresh start somewhere else without the legacy pressure may rejuvenate him.

Yeah, I agree. Not looking like a great class and obviously the Vikings wouldn't be getting either of the top two guys. The one guy no one is talking about that I think will rise up draft boards is Clemson's Cade Klubnik, assuming he declares. Sounds like he gets rid of the ball quick, with a strong arm and good mobility. I'm guessing people are going to start drawing Bo Nix comparisons as soon as the evaluators start going full steam ahead.

So I've been critical of the interior OL, and I still am, but I think they need a coaching change. I don't know anything about (checking....) Chris Kuper but I think a lot of the issues is on him because these guys do not look prepared for situational blocking. Obviously the QB and OL are never going to pick up every blitz pre-snap, but why is it that every delayed blitz up the middle gets through? Why don't the guards or center ever shift off the guy they are blocking to slow down the guy running freely with momentum? You could see it yesterday, they were looking at the blitzer but chose to stick with the lineman they were already engaged with, even though that defender didn't have momentum building towards the QB. Additionally, our screen passes to the backs seem to never work, and at least yesterday I saw why. The Vikings had four OL out in space to block three defenders. However, none of them engaged until Aaron Jones was already wrapped up. They BEAT the defenders out there. Maybe they were all taught to be mindful of PI and not engage early, but they were not in position nor ready for the catch. Not a single one of the lineman were positioned between Jones and the defenders, and it didn't look like they had a plan for whom each of them should block.

They cold be, but I think Lamar Jackson is capable of carrying a club in a way that Brock Purdy isn't.

So what happens then when Duran and Sands tell the Twins that they want to start again too? Honestly, I think this is foolish and opening up a can of worms that they're even allowing the optics of a pitcher calling his own shots. Just about every other reliever-turned-starter made the transition on another team. Likely because the former team knew it was a dangerous road to tread.

Former Gopher Jacob Clark went to Missouri State where he's put up big numbers. Missouri State is moving up to FBS which will make them ineligible for the bowls and post season (I think), he could look to jump ship for his senior season. But maybe that's one of those situations where bridges were burned? This free-wheeling transfer stuff is so new that it's hard to get a good read on at the moment.

Yeah, and that includes several inexplicable losses. That team had no business losing to UNC, Rutgers or Michigan and Penn State had no businesses coming back and winning the game last week. Sounds like I'm complaining but I'm not; they keep their focus and Iowa is the only loss.

But then there needs to be one with the first guy's over-confidence and the second guy's body to represent the Packer fans when they win.

Seems like we've seen this plenty before where a team continually pulls wins from their butt. I don't think they usually win it all though. Not that I want the Eagles or Lions to win. So the Vikings have some work to do.

No idea. Based on the unjustified luck the Packers and Badgers have had for about three decades, and the laughably inflated egos the fans have grown because of it, I'm going to say, currently yes?

I do like seeing Wisconsin as a really, really bad team. I'm not sure how that state ever got good football at all levels, but seems like the fans feel they deserve it but without any justification.

Sure to Poche, no to Chaffin. Chaffin is unreliable year-to-year and has a serious walk issue the last two seasons; that doesn't tend to get better with age. But I really don't care about bullpen splits for lefties any longer. You bring one in to face a left handed hitter and you're almost guaranteeing yourself that he'll then have to face two right handed hitters. Or three or four if he can't get the first two out. -
One winning season for the Bears since 2012. Man, what a fun franchise! I know we've had several good-not-great HC that I was ready to move on from here in Minnesota, but I remember how much the fans HATED Lovie Smith at the end and it turns out he was the only passable coach they've had since Ditka was fired.
