  1. Today's OF or a "Twins Legends OF" featuring Mark Davidson in LF, John Moses in CF and Randy Bush in RF. And I'm not talking about these guys in their prime, I'm talking present day. I honestly think the only thing today's starters would have on them is foot speed.
  2. There are many days during the baseball season that I'm jealous of people heading out to the ballpark. After seeing that lineup, I've decided that today is not one of those days.
  3. I was just joking. Did Paulie take it as a challenge? This OF combined with the rest of that garbage lineup they're trotting out there today tells me I might be watching women's college softball instead of the Twins.
  4. Seth, I'm trying to understand why you're so seemingly high on Grossman. Aside from showing a willingness to take a walk, he seemingly does nothing very well. Everything about him screams "average at best." I guess I just don't get it. There's a reason that two teams that - at at least at the time - had plenty of roster space for guys that showed actual promise.
  5. I think in order for Kepler to get a shot - a legitimate shot, not 2 starts in 2 weeks - one or more of the following has to happen: Arcia totally implodes or gets injured while Max is riding a hot streakPlouffe is traded and they move Sano to 3BThey give up on Santana and decide they can't start either Grossman or Mastroianni - i.e. Molitor is told the rookie is coming up to play CF and he will play over those twoAs for the second part of your question, I do actually think he'll be back up before Buxton and Rosario. Rosario because I don't think he's going to learn the strike zone fast enough to get out of the doghouse and Buxton because I think they're going to make him prove he's healthy and ready for a significant stretch of time.
  6. I just read that the Mariners released Ed Lucas today. If his agent didn't call Terry and his stable of yes-men bobos by the time the Mariners' call ended he should be firing that agent. He could be signed, play a game at Rochester, be starting at SS by Tuesday and have a multi-year extension by the end of the month if he plays his cards right.
  7. I think you're aiming a tad high there. Schafer was a Top-100 prospect on 2 lists for 2 years, whereas RG was on 1 list for 1 year. So he's probably only 25% as good.
  8. I'm all for Rosario getting sent down, but there has to be a better option than Robbie Grossman. This is just another trash heap claim that Molitor won't be able to resist starting. I'd rather watch Nick Punto, Drew Butera and Jason Tyner play double dutch than an OF of Grossman, Santana and Mastroianni. And you can almost guarantee that's coming before the end of the week.
  9. Human beingsNeed oxygen to surviveBoth been to HoustonHave the letter R in their last nameI think you see the parallels here.
  10. Mediocre veterans everywhere hate you for comparing them to Robbie Grossman and Darin Mastroianni.
  11. But Robbie Grossman was a Top-100 prospect on one list 4 years ago. That's gotta count for something, right? Obviously, the Twins problems lay squarely on the shoulders of Danny Santana. The blame is all his.
  12. You can't teach crafty. Or left-handed. Or bulldog mentality. Or battling one's tail off.
  13. Hey, as long as he or any combination of rookies, non-prospects, aging veterans and hobos who picked a catcher's mitt out of the garbage can keep Suzuki on the bench enough that his option doesn't vest, it'll be a successful season.
  14. Thank goodness I kept reading long enough to see "Beresford" make its way into the equation. It wouldn't be a proper article without someone championing the cause of Nick Punto Jr. Or is he more Glenn Williams? Oh, maybe a poor man's Denny Hocking? THAT is exactly what this team needs - more marginal talent.
  15. Did they put a bat in his hand or what? I don't actually recall seeing him do anything but helplessly flap his arms at pitches as they flew by.
  16. My guess is that the "shoulder fatigue" came from all of the middle fingers he threw up at Terry, Molly, Neily, Robby and everybody else when they handed his travel itinerary to Rochester to him. Can't blame them though ... the best way to evaluate talent is to see it once every 32 days.
  17. I can type my comments with both my left and rights hands ... perhaps they'll catch on to play OF for the Twins in June.
  18. Anybody happen to see where good ole J.R. ended up? Trenton Thunder in AA - right after being on the Twins MLB roster. Yes, I know there's no correlation between the two things, but I think it serves nicely as an anecdote for this season.
  19. Except when it's a garbage player like this switch-hitting Mastro-wannabe.
  20. I don't think we have to worry about him taking AAA ABs away from Kepler, Buck, ABW3 or anyone else. He didn't opt out of his minor league deal to sign another minor league deal with no clear path back to the show. My God, we're actually going to see an OF of Robbie Grossman, Darin Mastroianni and Danny Santana by the Memorial Day. With that kind of piranha-y goodness coming around, someone's gonna need to send Ozzie Guillen some rubber underpants to wear.
  21. Well, the Twins might have said something, but the beat writers in this town won't print it until the second Thursday in June.
  22. It's going to be AMAZING when his rag arm is back up in Minneapolis, anchoring the Hunt for 100. Maybe this time he'll perform well enough that they'll sell his contract to an Armenian League team for next year.
  23. I agree with the sentiment here and virtually all of your thoughts ... but let's face it, Meyer, Berrios, Kepler, Polanco and - to a lesser extent - Buxton haven't actually been given a chance to play or play through struggles. This organization is so scared to call this season DOA that they'll keep making changes for the sake of making changes and making it look like they're doing something until they've driven even the most loyal of fans away. I think most people have been waiting so long to see these prospects that they might actually pay money to see them have a shot. The only thing guys like Logan Darnell, Pat Dean, Robbie Grossman and Darin Mastroianni will do less of than help a ballclub win is sell seats.
  24. I get back spasms pretty frequently. Anything can cause them - pulled muscle, twist the wrong way, cold and/or damp weather. I wouldn't worry too much about it. If it lands him on the DL, then it could be cause for some concern. Not necessarily that he's got a back injury, but that he once again couldn't remain healthy for more than a couple of months.
  25. Don't get me wrong, I love the guy - great player, great ambassador for the game, marketable, etc. You name it, he's got it. However, given that it would take probably 5 of top-10 prospects in the system, plus probably 2 more in the top-20, I'm not sure it'd be worth it. If I were the Angels and Terry Ryan came calling, I'd ask for Buxton, Kepler, Polanco, Berrios, Gonsalves, Burdi and Thorpe and I wouldn't back off much from that.
