  1. Another lineup, another day of DanSan taking ABs away from an actual player. I could MAYBE overlook this is DS was outhitting Kepler vs. LHP, but he's not. He's not even tickling .200.
  2. If we're looking at this through Molly Goggles, the correct answer is "wherever Danny doesn't want to play that day."
  3. I was just looking up good old DanSan on Baseball Reference. Two fun facts for today. 1) The Twins have a league leader in 2016 - DanSan's 8 CS are tops according to them. 2) DanSan has never played an inning at 3B above A+ I'm so glad there's UFC on tonight. Maybe I won't force myself to sit through this train wreck tonight.
  4. This lineup is an absolute joke. I really, really hope Pohlad is flexible with that whole "Molitor is our manager in 2017" bit because this is embarrassing. What has Santana done to not only continue seeing the field, but be given yet another position to be below average at? So now he's crappy at 2B, SS, 3B, LF, CF, RF, base running and hitting? They might as well make him the emergency catcher at this point, because as long as Molly is running the joint this talentless hack is going to be around. But then again, obviously, the best way to figure out what defensive position one of your better infield prospect will play in the future is to DH him.
  5. It was nice of the Twins to bring Matty LeCroy back to play LF tonight.
  6. I'm predicting that the first thing Molly addresses tonight - after praising DanSan for that throw - is that Duff is Rochester bound. And then all of our heads will simultaneously explode when he announces that Albers has been added to the 40-man and will be brought up to take the roster spot. #BerriosIsTheNewMeyer
  7. Hopefully Tyler's got a month-to-month lease.
  8. Getaway day or something. Need to keep them fresh because they're gonna be needed. Young guys need rest too. Take your pick ... Molly logic is about the same as Gardy logic.
  9. I envision him as part of the second of the 5 Aces. Who was it before? Blacky, Perk, Franky, Slowey and Bakes have made room for Duff, "Terrific" Tommy, Erv, Richard and Gibby. Since Berrios' ceiling is 1B, he needs to show more consistency through his age 25 season. As for the slugs at AA. Well, let's just say they're lucky they're at AA ... there's no penetrating a rotation that solid.
  10. Insert one of the following canned answers here: a) I had to play a hunch We're gonna need DanSan down the stretch, so I need to find him ABs when I can to keep his bat alive c) Even the young guys need days off here and there ... it's a marathon, not a sprint. d) Our post game ice cream dates are awkward when I don't start him
  11. I thought Stewart was supposed to start tonight. Did I miss something?
  12. I think our first mistake was assuming that things would be different with Terry out the door. When questioning Antony's thought process through his "audition," let's always ask ourselves "WWTD?" Because that's exactly how it's going to go. Antony is either just a marionette on the end of Terry's strings and this "search" is a sham or he's the dumbest job hunter ever ... you're going to lean heavily in your decision-making process on the guy that just got fired and expect it to end well for you?
  13. Listening to Antony talking about the team's trading chips is just like listening to Ryan talking about the Twins trading chips and it terrifies me. As does him mentioning he's been in regular contact with Terry and Dick grilling him about extensions for Suzuki, Nunez, etc. I'm really getting the feeling this isn't an audition as much as it's a coronation. Ugh.
  14. Barely start is all he should be allowed to do.
  15. I'm going to trust the source that's not "I would be Doogie." I also believe it was probably a "Molly's gotta go" conversation that prompted it. There's a part of me that wants to believe old Jimmy told Terry to unload the veterans and their salaries for whatever they could get and start getting the kids up to sink or swim. Terry, unwilling to admit when he's been licked by the likes of Nolasco, Hughes, etc., digs in his heels and tells Jimmy that these are his guys and he's going to war with them ... and then he got canned. Then logic kicks in and tells me that Jimbo probably did tell him to move whoever he can, but that he wouldn't kick in anything on salary to facilitate it, Terry balked and they came to the understanding that it's time for the heir apparent to ascend to the throne he's been promised for the last 5 years.
  16. And for the most part they do. But it's an ego thing. Everyone wants to take something small and turn it into something bigger, just to prove they can. Even in my non-glamorous office job it happens. Sure, the ultimate goal is to win, and while DanSan is pretty dreadful and there are people more deserving of the roster spot, it's not as if he's blocking anyone that's going to be a significant part of the future. So, if you can win ballgames and get some sort of production from your pet, it's a double win. I could be totally off-base on this assessment, too. Who knows?
  17. Actually, I could be totally imagining this, but I seem to remember Molitor took Santana on as a pet project while he was still in the minors. I imagine not playing him or releasing him would be admitting that he failed in helping him develop.
  18. DanSan is to Molly what LNP was to Gardy.
  19. You could replace Chargois with Reed, Melotakis, Hildenberger or Jones and my answer would remain the same: "yes."
  20. I'd take that over Zuke and Molly waving him off the field and swearing at him and then never doing anything beyond that but tell the media how some things can't be forgotten.
  21. Hit a HR last October off of Nolasco, flipped his bat. Zuke and Molly got super duper mad at him. So mad was the team that Rosario yelled at him later in the game while rounding the bases on a HR of his own. #NeverForget
  22. I believe Mr Suzuki will be subjected to a random PED test after the game today.
  23. Veteran leadership is important, as pointed out by Dick's acknowledgement of Jason Giambi, Mike Napoli and Torii Hunter. Where oh where could this Twins team find an overpaid veteran whose on-field skills are diminishing, but might still be able to impart some wisdom on the young players? WHERE?!!
