  1. You ever correct your significant other in public? Now imagine pinch hitting for him/her in the bottom of the 9th. That's what Molly faced today.
  2. Yep, and hopefully this time someone would claim him.
  3. I think I get were you're going here, but there are a lot of guys on the 40-man they could DFA and they'd either a) not be missed or would cause the other GMs in the league to laugh when someone on his staff asked if they should put in a claim. Dean, Jepsen, Ramirez and Boshers are all guys that few would shed tears over losing and most of them probably wouldn't get claimed anyway.
  4. Maybe they threw them in as part of the posting process.
  5. Hopefully the breakup isn't bad enough to cause a rift ... I'm looking forward to his induction into the Twins HOF. I assume he, Gardy and Andy will go in together for all of those banners they hung.
  6. There you go assuming they have a plan with anything. When the GM comes out and admits that they put out a bid without even thinking about landing the player or what they might do if they were to somehow they did, you know there was never a plan. That alone should've got him fired. Even though I was happy they at least tried to make a splash.
  7. I know BA is an outdated statistic that we hate because it doesn't tell the whole story and only focuses on a player's ability to successfully reach base by way of a hit, but can we now finally be concerned about Robbie Grossman? I know he's the OBP messiah and has been anointed nothing below the 4th OF for the next decade since the day he put on that beautiful red jersey, but another 0-fer has pushed his BA for June down to .220. I know Terry Ryan is always right - and we love him for it - but I can't help but feel maybe there's cause for concern here. Like, maybe all those teams that deemed him unworthy of their roster were possibly right? Is there a chance Robbie isn't as good as we were lead to believe? I mean, he was the #76 preseason prospect of 2012 in one publication ... does that mean nothing? But, seriously, at what age is it inappropriate for a grown man to be called Robbie? Or Bobby, Billy, Petey, etc. for that matter?
  8. I think we're putting WAY too much thought into this ... Robbie's hitting .229 in June, so I think it's safe to say his extension is coming soon and LF will be locked down for a long time to come.
  9. Agreed. Lack of versatility isn't exactly going to earn anyone bonus points with this regime. They prefer players that can average or slightly below at multiple spots as opposed to a one-dimensional player with a plus tool in the box. I don't think Arcia's the second-coming of Papi, but I really hope he's something close so Terry can hang his head in shame for another 15 years ... when he'll still be turning the ship around.
  10. K in his 4th AB. Typical Ozzy refusing to put the ball in play.
  11. Make that 3 for 3 with 3 RBI.
  12. I'm probably also in the minority because I think football is about the dumbest game a person can play or watch. My 5 concussions and arthritic body in my mid-30s ensured that when I have kids they won't go anywhere near a football field.
  13. I came up with a theory in the spring - that he's the new Nick Punto. Not that he's as terrible as Punto was or that he makes as many boneheaded plays as Punto did or that he feels he's aerodynamic enough to defy the laws of physics when diving into first base. Similar in a different way. Punto was at his "best" when he had to earn his way on to the field. When he felt he was being disrespected by not having a starting position handed to him, he played with a chip on his shoulder and earned his way back in. When he was named the starter and handed playing time, he struggled and he struggled mightily. My theory is that Escobar is made from that same mold. Now he's played his way back into the lineup - along with some help from Plouffe's balky lower body - and he's struggling. Not as bad as at the beginning of the year, but still struggling.
  14. Well I guess I'll take this as a learning moment. No comments about how certain website contributors here won't criticize Ryan for any move and no comments about Smalley's love for Ryan or your posts get deleted. Noted, over-anxious mods.
  15. No doubt, but Terry is almost always going to choose cash. Which is good because he can't waste cash's option years or wait until after its prospect status has passed to try and trade it.
  16. They're talking Ozzy trade now. Basically how they're getting a player to be named later or cash and explaining how that works. As if Terry isn't going to take the cash. And they quickly changed the subject to McPhail getting dinner for trading Winfield in 94.
  17. Whatever Dick is smoking with his Suzuki and Mauer deserve All-Star consideration idea, I would like some and in equal amounts so that stupid things I say sound good in my head.
  18. Weren't they actually at least an average team that year, too? I recall them being at least decent around that time.
  19. Roy by a mile. Which says a lot because, Gorg isn't exactly stellar.
  20. I've never quoted myself on here, but I'm willing to make exceptions when I nail predictions like this.
  21. This is absolutely what I meant - .240 over his last 15+ games now.
  22. Does Roy think if he keeps saying that Milone is too good to be in AAA it will magically come true? Perhaps he should stick to overestimating the abilities of the Twins batters rather than branching out to the pitchers.
  23. I believe the Real Rob Grossman has officially stood up.
  24. I wonder if the Yankees took BP today or if they figured they'd get enough of it during however many innings Milone lasts tonight. I'm guessing 3.2.
