  1. If there's a time for it, this is it. The preference should be, however, to get Sano as many reps at 3B as possible, Polanco as many possible at SS, Vargas at 1B, etc. If he takes reps away from actual future parts of this team - like Schafer is doing in the OF - then I hate this move more than Albers in the rotation. OK, maybe that's an exaggeration, but it's pretty close. I'm just sick of marginal players getting rewarded for marginal play and then have the local shills put a positive spin on it by pointing out how "great a guy" they are or how James and Brian made each other friendship bracelets in rookie ball. I want the "feel-good" story for this team to be winning, not giving a poor man's Denny Hocking his first and only cup of coffee.
  2. Great, another feel-good story on a 100+ loss team. At least they're digging in their own dumpster this time instead of their neighbor's.
  3. Agreed. But by putting it out there now just how deserving Dozier is, it gives the "we never have nice things," "Dozier got screwed" and "we needed this more than Houston" crowds something to run with during the offseason.
  4. "Objects in your mirror ..."
  5. Dozier's not raking in Winona or LaCrosse, though. We care only about where Dozier Bombs land.
  6. I don't think it was. Their "security" all ran off to get Randy Moss' autograph. This was after training camp had ended, but he drove back down with his crew to "Back That Thang Up." As soon as he showed up, it became chaos. Most of the stuff we lost was promo items from Miller - T-shirts, mugs, hats, etc. It was about $500 worth of stuff, but because we had a good relationship with the distributor, replacing it wasn't an issue. The one that hurt was the digital camera. This was 2002/2003, somewhere in there, so a new Sony Cybershot (a decent one, anyway) was about $700.
  7. Move over, Mr. Logo, you've been replaced in Twins lore by the sweet smile and "aw shucks" Mississippi attitude of Mr. Dozier.
  8. LOL The Mankato Civic Center actually didn't book hip hop for a long time because of stuff like this. Ja Rule once refused to go on stage until he was paid his $20,000 fee in cash ... up front. A friend of mine ran the place at the time and he had to close all of the concession stands and empty their registers. He was able to scrounge up about half. Rule took the money after a breach of contract threat was made, along with threats of making a call to the IRS. Later that night, Rule's opening act - Juvenile - and his entourage got thrown out of a bar for trying to bring high school girls in with them. Those were teh days.
  9. According to Google, it was Astronautalis. Mr. Nautalis did not make a new fan in me that night. Then again, I've been soured on the Twin Cities hip hop community for a long while now. While in college, the entertainment paper I helped run worked with a Twin Cities promoter that was putting on a show that featured Twin Cities "up and comers" and Juvenile. He didn't pay our cut, he didn't pay his advertising bill, he allowed our stuff to get stolen, he didn't get us the interview with Juvenile as was promised, he tried to convince that a white MC (who I'm convinced was Slug) was better than Eminem and he made us wait in the lobby of a hotel for an hour (for the aforementioned Juvenile interview) and almost made us witnesses in a sexual assault case that was reported while we were waiting. Since then, I kinda swore off hip hop and even more so, the Minneapolis scene.
  10. It wasn't. I've heard them and know I'm not a fan. This was an someone I'd never heard of that I ended up despising even more.
  11. Hopefully Molitor is long retired before Dozier reaches that number.
  12. To be fair, he doesn't have much of anything.
  13. Another lead-off jack for Brian "Sell High" Dozier. Nicely done, good sir.
  14. I'd include anyone from 96.3 that plays the music in between innings and/or schedules the "artists" for the MN music series. After listening to the awful local hip hop act, whose name luckily escapes me, freezing through a cold, rainy night seemed like an improvement.
  15. Less than one minute. That's how long I made it into the broadcast before I had to mute it. How these FSN clowns can - with a straight face - compare Dozier to Killebrew is beyond me. This top-to-bottom housecleaning should also include the TV and radio guys. This is absolute garbage.
  16. The only "highlight" I've seen from Schafer was the other night when he fell over jogging toward second. Unless I'm missing something.
  17. Would've been nice to see them let Kepler come back today and try to put a bad game behind him, rather than be able to sit and think about it. But, hey, I guess you've gotta make sure Weapon X gets a good, long look. There's so many examples of absolute garbage players really hitting their stride after 30, that you don't want to overlook this one. I'm hoping we're 26 games away from a resignation.
  18. Rob wouldn't have been in the frame on the screen on that one either.
  19. Did they just really quote Molitor as saying he wants to see what they've got in Logan Schafer? Nothing. The answer in what you have in Logan Schafer is nothing. He's a 4th OF for a independent league team. The fact that the manager thinks there might be something there makes me hope this losing streak carries on and forces him to resign.
  20. I'm not sure where you got this thing about me being averse to the cost of Puig. My original statement had ZERO to do with cost and everything to do with not wanting him on the team or giving up any prospects or players for him. Cost was never mentioned in my comment.
  21. Revocable waivers ... the Dodgers are looking to trade him, not just get rid of him.
  22. Revocable waivers. If you think the Dodgers are going to just let him go without getting something in return, I've got a bridge to sell you.
  23. This team sucks and has seemingly high character guys up and down it. I don't think they all need to be altar boys, but there's something about Puig that just isn't adding up. Plus, the Dodgers aren't just going to give him away - the package is going to need to be big, just not as big as a couple of years ago. I'm not sure a team in this position would be wise to give up much of anything to get a high-risk, high-reward type in hopes of redemption and/or flipping him for something better. That has self-implosion written all over it.
