  1. Given the inconsistency of Mejia and Gibson, and the consistent, but dreadful, work of Santiago lately, I'm all for it. I feel we're seeing signs of consistency from all three of them the last few times out - the former two in positive ways, the latter in negative. Maybe roll them out one at a time. Santiago is faltering (for lack of a kinder word), and I wouldn't shed a tear if he were traded/DFA'd/moved to the pen in favor of someone younger. Jorge wasn't lights out, but showed a lot of poise for a young kid making his debut and I'd like to see more. Put him and see what he can do over the span of a few weeks. If it doesn't work - i.e. ineffective or not going deep into games - then bring up one of the other two. Repeat the process for the other starters as the continually falter.
  2. Nice to see another decent outing from Stewart. Not spectacular, but given what he was doing earlier in the season, these last two outings have me encouraged. Also good to see Jones getting back out there. His AA numbers after coming back last year were pretty nice and hopefully he'll be able to keep that going. Plus, with Burdi and Jay out, it'll be nice for us to have another name to add to Curtiss, Reed, Bard, etc. list when complaining about Falvine sticking with Belisle and Breslow for too many months.
  3. Ugh, I/you/we see the numbers that Tonkin is capable of putting up and really start wishing it would translate to the big league level. I feel like we're all in an awful relationship with him. He's cheating and we all know it, but we so desperately want it to work out that we keep giving him chances. Why do we do this ourselves?
  4. Would Zack Jones be eligible again? Obviously his injury status probably puts him in most team's no-fly zone, but I'm not sure how it would effect his eligibility.
  5. None of them are real great options, but I voted Bert just because he seems like the lesser of evils. Jury's out on Hawkins, but they might have something there. I ended up muting virtually every inning Torii was up there. Morris might be a straight shooter, but if I have to hear one more "old school" story, Frank Tanana reference or fabricated story (the one about the Cleveland Indians bunting on him to start a game - Brett Butler and Kenny Lofton were never teammates), I'm going to scream. Smalley? Another "back in my day" guy who wasn't all that great back in his day. Didn't Larkin fill in once or twice a ways back? If it was him, I enjoyed it. If it wasn't, then I still enjoyed it and would like to figure out who it was. I'd also like to hear what a guy like Cuddyer could do - certainly not camera shy, well-spoken, knowledgeable. Maybe they're just keeping Bert around until Mauer can bring his personality to the booth. Imagine that!
  6. We could just as easily say the 6 in 6+ at AA was due to not enough innings and SSS. So, perhaps both him "walking everybody" and "walking nobody" could be based on SSS and the reality is that it's probably somewhere in between? Either way, is it a whole lot worse than the 4.8 per 9 for the polished veteran presence that is Matt Belisle?
  7. Nope, we're completely clueless as to what's going on. Please explain it to us. And don't be afraid to dumb it down for us that aren't quite on your level of brilliance.
  8. Obviously, you mean, minus the 0 walks so far in AAA, right? Or do those innings not count?
  9. Reed and Curtiss would seem to be a good place to start with callups. And, honestly, could Tonkin or Baxendale be a whole lot worse than Belisle? Then they could also take shots with guys like Bard, Rosario, Melotakis and Romero (if they decide it's time to slow down on his innings). There's no shortage of arms that might be able to help, and if they're going to fail, I'd rather they fail with the unknown upside guys than the known mediocre commodities.
  10. It's not so bad. Live dangerously.
  11. The between-innings vignette would have me believe that it's virtually impossible to hit HRs here ... liars.
  12. Good point. It's been a while since we heard about how great he/it was in the '80s.
  13. Good to see Black Jack knows all about the Fox Tracks ... and everything else. I never thought I'd miss DickBert as much as I do when they're apart.
  14. At least all of Belisle's runs are unearned so the "he isn't as bad as his stats indicate" crowd can put another feather in their hats.
  15. Did Jack really just suggest the Twins would need to trade someone to call up Granite? Seems like a rather bold move.
  16. It would make sense ... isn't that Breslow and Belisle up front?
  17. Blackout seems like the best way to watch this bullpen.
  18. Anybody have Belisle's email address? If so, send him this link: https://rochester.craigslist.org/search/apa

  20. Yeah, but it's also like the 32nd time Belisle has thrown BP to the other team.

  22. The good thing about Belisle is you know exactly you're going to see out of him every game. It's all about consistency.
  23. I honestly don't understand how Belisle still has a job.
