    If he produces at last year's rate, or at least something close to it, this is a good deal. If, however, he regresses to his pre-2017 form, then I can't say I'm a huge fan of it. I like the aggressiveness, but if he doesn't produce, you essentially swapped Vargas and Chargois to pay more money. Jury's out for me.

    I'm not sure the Sanchez signing has become "official" yet - pending physical and what not. Until that's all done, it likely doesn't require a spot be opened. My guess would be May when the time comes.

    Honestly, there's not a name that's been thrown around that I'd include Kepler in a deal for. I think he's on the verge of a big breakout offensively, and the fall-off from his defense in RF to Grossman or even Granite would be huge. If the Rays offered Odorizzi for Kepler, I'd hang up the phone. Same with Julio in Atlanta. If it was Archer, I'd listen, but I don't see him as the sure-fire ace most everyone else on this site seems to, so including Max would have to make the rest of the prospect give a lot lower. I view him as a strikeout pitcher who throws a lot of innings, but didn't have a ton of success in a hitters ballpark in front of a good defense. A definite #2, but not a true ace.

    I'd take him over Odorizzi in a heartbeat. Archer would be a decent move (depending on the give) although I still think "ace" is a bit of a reach. I'm with Dave - bring in Lynn or Cobb.

    If taking on Span's contract is the piece that gets it done to get Archer, fine. If it's a requirement (along with trading Kepler) to land Odorizzi, no chance.

    Honestly, I'm just glad it's over so we can stop hearing about it. Now we just need them to not settle for someone like Tillman or Garcia on the FA or offer up someone like Kepler for someone like Odorizzi.

    The prospect give for him. Looking at last year's MLB Top-30, the only one from the Top-15 I'd consider would be Jorge. Maybe Jay. There's even 3 or 4 in the bottom half of that 30 I wouldn't consider. So a Top-5 guy and a somewhat proven guy like Kepler for a middle of the road pitcher and an awful veteran contract is laughable.

    There's some interesting comments in here about what a Darvish "consolation prize" in the form of Odo might look like. Not sure which one I like better: Odo and Span for Kepler and GordonOdo for Javier, Enlow and Baddoo Granted, these are Tampa rubes speculating like many of us do, but personally I'd laugh at either of those offers coming back.     I'm not sure opening a spot for Granite is all that great. I am not at all sold on him - he strikes me as the second coming of Jason Tyner. The list of available veterans is underwhelming at best - the drop-off defensively would be really steep. If Kepler goes as part of a deal for Archer, I wouldn't like it, but it wouldn't be the end of the world (I'm not on team "Archer's one of the best pitchers in baseball"). If he were to go for Odorizzi, it'd be awful.

    I cringed when I saw Kepler's name in that article. Of the "non-elite" guys in the org, I think he's the one that they'd most regret moving down the line.

    Arrieta is the least offensive to the senses, but giving up a high(ish) draft pick on a big 1-year contract isn't preferable. Honestly, if these are the options out there after the top guys, I'd rather just roll the dice with Gonsalves/Romero/Jorge/May. Guys like this, and in some cases these exact guys, will be available down the line either off the scrap heap or trade wire.

    It'll Tillman and only Tillman. The first thing I did after hearing him mentioned as a possibility - I mean, aside from the upchuck - was ink him into the rotation. He is a classic Twins signing. While the new regime talks more about making a splash than the old one did, they still only make tiny ripples.

    Anyone else just ready for the whole thing to be wrapped up? Whether it's the Twins, Dodgers, Cubs or someone else, I just want it done.
