  1. Agreed with everyone on the standing O. He did much better than I expected, but nothing I'd get out of my seat for.
  2. I'm aware that he started pitching in 1917. Time catches up to everyone and it appears to have caught up to Big Sexy in a hurry.
  3. I thought it was July 15. Since he pitched yesterday, perhaps that was wrong.
  4. I think Gibson getting a no-no today in Houston is probably 20 times more likely. And, honestly, I'd hate if it happened because then we'd be stuck with him for the rest of the season ... and probably next season, too.
  5. While those guy are awful, they're at least young so optimism from the Wonder Twins is understandable. This is a 44-year-old who got teed off on in the NL and then served up AAA batting practice last week. The fact that anyone thinks this is a good or justifiable move blows my mind.
  6. His numbers from Atlanta and Rochester would beg to differ.
  7. Is Jones back on the disabled list? Doesn't look like he's pitched since that 1-inning on the 4th.
  8. That was why I used the quotes. I don't really think they are either, but BS belongs nowhere near a team with a winning record.
  9. I really want to make snarky jokes about this, but honestly I'm too mad to do so. 44-year-old Big Sexy starting for a team that's "in the hunt" is the biggest joke I can remember since becoming a Twins fan back in 1985. This is Tyner hitting cleanup. This Bartlett playing OF. This is Butch Huskey.
  10. That's four nice starts for Stewart since coming back - at least on paper, anyway. Hopefully he'll be able to use the second half to build some momentum for next year. Either way, another sign of encouragement when the big squad is getting blown out.
  11. The Sox are absolutely stacked with rotation potential now. Wow. Kopech and Cease alone make me drool.
  12. Are we talking about an ace or are we talking about Jose Quintana? I have zero problem giving up talent to get talent, but that's too much IMO for Quintana.
  13. I'd laugh and hang up the phone if they asked for that package, much less more on top of it. Hopefully the Yankees step up and eliminate the temptation.
  14. I was just over reading the comments on MLBTR ... White Sox fans seem to think a "number 1" like Quintana should be able to net them Gordon, Kirilloff and Gonsalves. Did I miss a punchline somewhere? When did Quintana become an ace? Would anyone consider such a package? I'd probably throw kittens into traffic if the FO did something that stupid.
  15. Love seeing another good start out of Stewart. I know a lot of people are down on him, but I'm holding out hope. Too young, forces too many ground balls, and gives up too few HRs to let a lack of Ks be a big concern.
  16. Home and TV on just in time to see Trumbo give Boshers the proverbial noogie. I thought Granite was the difference maker this team needed. Not the case?
  17. It's cool that Granite's getting called up, but isn't "huge news" overselling it a bit? We're talking about a fringe Top-20 org guy that probably projects as a 4th OF, right? So, slightly better version of Jason Tyner, not the next coming of Mike Trout.
  18. True, but that's 2-3 AAA starts that could go to someone like Gonsalves or Romero. Heck, they could even go to Jorge. They all appear ready for that jump in competition.
  19. His spin rate can't compare to Big Sexy's.
  20. That's kind of what I was thinking, but it wasn't a real complete list I found. Was hoping there were some major success stories that I was overlooking. Here's hoping he can be the first. At least it's not a Urias situation.
  21. Has anyone successfully returned from this surgery yet? Richard likes to hold Gee and Hughes up as the poster boys for its success, but that's saying very little. The only other names I've found are Matt Harvey, Noah Lowry, Clay Dick, late career Josh Beckett, late career Chris Young, Tyson Ross. Seems like some never make it back (Lowry), some have very moderate success (Young) and others are done, but appear to be delaying the inevitable (Hughes, Ross). At this point, I think it best to not count on Tyler going forward. At least until he proves he's not the next Clayton Richard.
