  1. Please tell me that is from the Twins media guide...
  2. I just got back from vacation. Timing is not my friend today. Workload isn't either. I'm going to pay for this afternoon later this week.
  3. I think I know what you're talking about, but I don't remember the particulars either. This is certainly a crazy scenario.
  4. Or leveraging other teams, but I suspect you're correct.
  5. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2016/08/marlins-return-colin-rea-padres-elbow.html I'll let them explain it.
  6. No that this has anything to do with the Twins, but the Colin Rea bit is interesting. Don't recall ever seeing something like that before.
  7. The Duffy to the pen thing seems to point towards no, unfortunately. At this point at least.
  8. They still have something so much sweeter though! I present to you, Danny Santana.
  9. But would the other team? Seems like you're getting awfully greedy!
  10. Agreed, I'm just not sure that the return featuring a bucket of already chewed Double Bubble and a bag of baseballs with the covers knocked off of them is the HUGE deal that we have in mind.
  11. I heard that the hang up was the inclusion of Schilling's bloody sock.
  12. This notion makes slightly more sense to me than the Braves adding Matt Kemp. Even if the Braves flip him, that moves seems nonsensical at best. Even at Puig's age and talent, I don't think dealing for him makes a lot of sense for a team in the position that the Twins are in.
  13. Trade Dozier now if you get a nice return on him. If not, wait until the offseason. Get Polcano in as many games as possible, preferably in the field and not at DH. I'm also of the opinion that Polanco will be a better fit for the Twins in the future. Will he be better than Dozier? I think he can be or even better, but I don't know and I'm not sure I care. The fit is more important at this point in my opinion. I do feel like Dozier won't be around for most of this teams turnaround anyway.
  14. I think Suzuki, Abad, Kintzler, and Ervin get dealt. I don't see any reason for the first three on that list to be around by tonight and see an Ervin deal as less likely, but I think somebody will pull the trigger. Otherwise, like alarp33 said, I'm good with the new GM dealing Ervin (if not dealt) and Dozier in the offseason. I'm not sure what to do about Plouffe at this point. He may just have to ride pine next season.
  15. Nice intro. The baseball card bits always get me. I still have all of mine, but my dad continues to kick himself to this day. He gave all of his away for nothing. Shoe boxes full that included Mickey Mantle's, Hank Aaron's, Willie Mays', etc etc. Whenever he tells the story, I want to kick him too.
  16. Great to see Dan San get his ABs tonight and see Buxton sitting again after a decent night at the plate... Note heavy use of extreme sarcasm. How's a guy supposed to build on anything and get in a groove if he sits the next day everytime he has a decent day at the plate?!?!?!?! Four game hit streak? You must be exhausted, time for a rest. We wouldn't want the guy to gain too much confidence too quickly...
  17. Could be, but my understanding has always been that score doesn't matter. The verbiage of the rule doesn't say anything about it either, but I guess I don't know for sure.
  18. Not to mention the fact that even if you take another job and your former team wins a WS, you still had a hand in that. Your efforts aren't erased from history.
  19. That could also double as a revenue generator, again. Turn it into a NASCAR and plaster it with logo's and have another company sponsor the actual trip in from the bullpen. I don't like this notion as ballparks and broadcasts are advertisements to the hilt, but it is what it is.
  20. No, it sounds like he actually got into a game.
  21. TR or the intern or the bath tub?
  22. Actually, I agree completely. He could still end up with an administrative role, just one with far less prominence. But I do think the visibility he has can benefit him regardless. It could also hurt him if he shows poorly.
  23. I don't see the manager thing being all that big of a deal in the grand scheme of things. If they feel handcuffed by a one year deal, that almost seems more worrisome in my view. Many new GM's keep the current manager on board for a year anyway. The caveat to that statement is that it has to be clear that the new GM has the authority to move on after Molitor's deal is done if they so choose. If that isn't the case, that's being handcuffed. That's a much different story and a much different issue. GM's need to think longer than one year and the new GM will be brought in for multiple years. Is the manager deal ideal? No, of course not. I think it's something that most will look past considering it's only a one season issue.
