  1. ah, perhaps. Though, having just be relieved of his duties I'm not sure how much impact that would have for the new guy. Probably depends a lot on what the new role is and how much he'll be around the big league club. You're probably right though, there is that potential.
  2. Probably depends on how amicable the situation is. If it was more or less mutual, then maybe there really isn't any animosity.
  3. It's also possible that this has little to do with what transpired on the field. It could be as simple as the FO and Molitor not being on the same page and they decided to go get their own guy. It's unlikely that we'll really know if that's the case however.
  4. That's what I'm going to find most intriguing about this. They've been able to evaluate the in-house staff that has been retained and have had their chance to bring in their own people as well. I think that I still prefer to go outside of the organization, but I'm not as adamantly opposed about it as I was when Molitor was hired.
  5. Never been a fan of his hiring. Nonetheless, I wish him and his staff well in whatever their future holds.
  6. Thanks for these weekly recaps, Nick. These and the daily recaps were my go to reads when life gets busy!
  7. Right there with you. Hard to maintain a dry eye when he walked out in his catchers gear. Nobody around me had a dry eye, myself included. It was a really fun atmosphere at the ballpark all afternoon. That wasn't a send off for a player that hasn't made up his mind. Especially with Mauer's hesitation to grab the spotlight, I think he knows exactly what he wants to do.
  8. Thanks for the recaps, Tom! Great job as usual. I may not have had the time to post and check in as frequently as I wanted to the last six weeks or so, but I always managed to check out these recaps. Perfect send off for Joe. If anyone at Target Field managed to keep a dry eye until the 9th, I can't imagine that many did when he came out in his catchers gear. Nobody around me did, and neither did I. Pretty cool way to walk off the field. Thanks for the memories, Joe!
  9. I just can't get passed how good this team can look against the leagues best and then get bludgeoned by the dregs of the league in the next series.
  10. Agreed. I'm figuring that if it is true that there's going to be a significant chunk of that change that as a fan, I'm not going to be able to see or realize.
  11. Concur. I'm certainly more interested if there's a good pitching matchup. Even better if I have tickets for said matchup or even if a guy is on the bump for a team we don't see often from an NL team. I rarely go to games to see individual players, but a good starting pitcher is a bit different in my mind.
  12. I think you nailed the frustration factor point. This team has so many facets that need to be sorted out that making short term financial decisions like they did is very frustrating. It would have been nice to see them try to keep sorting at least some of those things out.
  13. I mean, it makes sense in a way. But they can't be the only ones called up. I would also prefer they not be called up at all, but I think that's asking far too much.
  14. That was my reaction too. That was also my reaction when my DirecTV cut to Dirty Dancing instead of the game. Too much craziness tonight and I haven't even been drinking!
  15. Now I really wish I was still watching Dirty Dancing...
  16. Dish back to the right channel and I think I might want Dirty Dancing back...
  17. We're on the internet, I'm sure nobody will notice.
  18. Fair point. I know my wife is more interested in the TV all of a sudden. Not sure that's good or bad though.
  19. Though, if you're going to say that he is a starting pitcher, now is the time to let him figure out how to get through the middle innings. I don't really have an issue with that at this point in the season.
  20. I think that I understand what RB is trying to say, and I agree with some of it. I agree with the notion that it takes Molitor too long to make adjustments sometimes. In my view, it did take Molitor too long to take Dozier out of the leadoff spot. Then he basically doubled down by dropping him to the middle of the order. As much as I still don't get why Grossman is on the roster, he probably should have been playing more than Morrison at DH. This would especially be the case if Morrison's hip was indeed bothering him all season long. You've got to ride your horses, that goes for the bullpen too, but I think that he can do a better job of finding places to rest guys. There's no reason to bring Pressly into a 5 run game, save him for high leverage situations. As much as Dozier likes to play every day, even he's got to get to a point where the mental break of a day off would be rejuvenating. Riding your horses to the point of being ineffective is counterproductive. I can't go along with the LaMarre over Buxton bit though. Buxton needs to play as much as he can at that point.
